Q1:- DESIGN A BUSINESS CARD IN CORELDRAW ?

ANSWER:- BUSINESS CARD :-

How to Design a Business Card in CorelDRAW
With social media networks more frequently being used in business, there’s
been a no ceable decline in printed business cards in some countries; adding a
QR code might just be the right func on to save your audience me in this
digital world. In today’s business climate, being prepared with networking
possibili es, using digital business cards and social media linking, is vital.
At the core, a business card is all about networking and invi ng someone to
contact you, or for you to contact them. Historically the business card is an
invita on card, and in 17th century Europe, it was used to announce the arrival
of prominent people. Few things are so quick as handing over a card.
When designing a business card, you have the power to decide the hierarchy of
its contents. That said, you should bear in mind other cultures’ priori es. Some
cultures may priori ze the business tle of the cardholder whereas other
cultures are shying away from tle usage.
Before you start, decide what informa on you would like to have on your
business card. To follow along with this tutorial you will need a logo, first name
and last name of the card owner, a (company) postal address, phone number,
e-mail, a website link, and for this par cular tutorial, a QR Code.
Click on any of the images below to view full-size.
Step 1: Document Setup
Start by crea ng a new document in CorelDRAW by going
to File > New or Ctrl + N. In the New Document window:
 Name your document and choose CMYK or RGB color mode.
 If you intend to print on the back of the card, change the Number of
pages to 2.
 In the Page Size dropdown list, choose Business Card – unless you have
custom requirements for a different size or format.
 Select your orienta on and keep the resolu on at 300 dpi.

Sheetal Shukla
7

TIP: Ask your printer if they prefer any specific color profile and color mode. You
can specify these in the Color Se ngs sec on.

In your new document, the Property Bar will display the basic document
informa on. Here you can set a new page size, change the orienta on, or
change the units of measure if you wish.

Step 2: Adding Guidelines

Guidelines help you set up your design, and help you work professionally with
the layout.
 Go to Layout > Document Op ons.
 Click on Guidelines and then the Presets
 Select Page borders and other op ons if needed.
 On the property bar, enable Guidelines in the Snap To dropdown list.

Sheetal Shukla
8

NOTE: in previous versions of CorelDRAW you can set guidelines by going

to Tools > Op ons, then selec ng the Document > Guidelines > Presets
Click on the intersec ng point in the top le corner where the rulers meet and
drag to the top le corner of your business card document. This will reset the
0:0 coordinates to the top le corner and is helpful if you want to add
addi onal guidelines in the Guidelines docker.
You can also add addi onal guidelines by using the Pick tool to drag them out
from the rulers along the top and le side of the interface.
Step 3: Adding Text
With your business card workspace ready in CorelDRAW, start by adding the
company and contact informa on. Select the font you plan to use. If you’re
crea ng a business card for a client, ask if they have a corporate font they use.
Whichever font you use, CorelDRAW has some useful tools that can help you
find and manage fonts:
 The Font List, which allows you to group fonts by family or show recently
used fonts and filter fonts based on font technology, weight, width,
supported scripts, style, character range and more.

 The Font Manager, a standalone font management applica on where

you can find and preview local fonts, install and uninstall fonts, and
delete fonts that you no longer need.

Sheetal Shukla
9

Ac vate the Text docker (Window > Dockers > Text) to access all the text
edi ng tools. In the Character sec on at the top, you can adjust the Kerning to
increase or decrease the space between individual characters. In
the Paragraph sec on below, you can use the Spacing features to properly
make your text more readable.

Step 4: Adding a Background Color

If you would like to have a background color for your business card, ac vate
the Rectangle tool and create a rectangle roughly the size of the card. Then you
can adjust the height and width values in the property bar, and center it by
pressing “P” on your keyboard.
TIP: you can also create a rectangle that is exactly the size of your card by
double-clicking on the Rectangle tool.
To remove the black outline, right-click on the No Color swatch at the top of
the Color pale e.

Sheetal Shukla
10

Click on a color swatch in the Color pale e to fill the rectangle or use
the Eyedropper to sample color from an object.
Step 5: Adding a Logo
Import and place the logo, only using print-ready image files. You can use CDR
file format images, ff and in some circumstances PNG 24-bit format,
resolu on 300 dpi.
TIP: You can use a lower resolu on, like 150 or 200 dpi, but I recommend using
high-resolu on images like 300 dpi to be on the safe side. Just remember to use
original images created to 300 from the beginning, and not resampled images.
(Which, most of the me, are not good enough for print).
Step 6: Adding a QR code
When all the text informa on and logotype is set up in your layout, consider
adding a QR code to your business card. A QR code contains informa on that
can be read by smartphones and other mobile devices. This informa on could
be your contact informa on, or a URL to quickly and easily access a company
website or a social media profile such as LinkedIn.
To add a QR code, go to Object > Insert > QR Code. Use the Pick tool to resize
and posi on the QR code on your business card.

To edit the QR code informa on, open the Proper es docker

(Window > Dockers > Proper es). You can set the QR code type to a URL,
contact info or even a calendar event. Once you have entered the informa on,
click on the Validate bu on to validate the QR code

.
When all this is set up and you’re finished with your design, it´s me to create a
print-ready PDF document and send to your printer company. Now you are
ready to start networking!

Q7:- DESIGN YOUR VISITING CARD IN CORELDRAW ?

ANSWER:- VISITING CARD IN CORELDRAW:-
How To Make Business Cards
Business cards can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but the most common
size in North America is 3.5” x 2” or 85mm x 55mm.
For this exercise, we will be using the North American standard of 3.5 x 2
inches One other design feature we will use is something that is called a full
bleed. A full bleed is where ink runs to the edge of the page (or card). To
accomplish this, the design element usually extends about 1/8” beyond the
edge of the card.
TRY IT FREE

Sheetal Shukla
16

1. set the PaGe size

As men oned, for this exercise, we will be using the North American standard
of 3.5 x 2 inches. From the New Document dialog box (File > New), in
the Name: field type the name of the file as ‘Homes 4 Sale’. Next, from
the Size drop-down, select Business card. Select the Landscape icon and make
sure that the Primary color model is set to RGB then click OK. Finally,
from View > Page, select Bleed. This will give a visual representa on of the
bleed area.

2. addinG GraPhiC eleMents

We will start with the object that will bleed. Create a rectangle that measures
1.75 x 2.3”. With the object selected, from the Objects menu select Convert to
Curves. Now, we need to move the bo om right node to the le .75”. To do
this, click on the ver cal ruler on the right side of the page and drag it out to
the right edge of the rectangle. On the Interac ve Property bar, with the
guideline s ll selected, in the “X” object posi on, type “-.75” a er the value
there and then hit Enter. This will move the guideline to the le by .75”. From
the Toolbox, select the Shape tool and select the node in the bo om le
corner. With the Ctrl key held down, move it to the le to align with the
guideline. Now it is just a ma er of adding the logo and text. Posi on the logo
in the upper right corner and size it to 1” Horizontally (make sure lock ra on is

Sheetal Shukla

turned on). On the bo om le corner type the full address and phone
numbers. We have sized this to 6pt and set the font to Arial Narrow and make
the text white. The only thing le to do is to add the Name, Title, and tagline.
For the name, use Arial MT Black 20pt, the tle is Arial Narrow 8.5pt and for
this card, we have used Baccus 12 pt.

ARJIT

3. PrintinG the Cards

In order to print these cards and retain the bleed, we are going to use the
Imposi on layout. Rather than take you through the steps here, go to Help >
Product Help and click on Search. Type in ‘Imposi on’ and click on the link
for “Working with imposi on layouts”. This will present the various methods
to use the Imposi on Layout. Follow the steps to To edit an imposi on layout.
To effec vely output the cards, set the layout to 2 across and 4 down. You will
also want to add a .25” gu er both horizontally and ver cally
