Modelling via Fluent

After installing the

software, You can find it
Double Click
Press OK
Select
Save as
Choose a Project name ″Starting″
Select Fluid
Flow (Fluent)

Double Click
Your Screen will display
the Project Schematic
Which contains
the 5 main steps of
modelling
As you click right on
the Geometry Item

It allows you to open a

new Design Modeler
Geometry
It takes you to a
separate working
screen for Drawing
You thus distinguish the design modeler
screen

From the work bench screen

The tree outline shows the 3
perpendicular planes with no
parts or bodies created yet

Your default setting is Modeling by which

you manage creating your domain
Once you press the XY Plane

The three axes are shown

As you choose looking normal to that plane

You will be ready to draw in the XY plane

Let us consider that our domain is a square duct

that represent a part of the ventilation system in

air conditioning work

Then draw a square in the XY Plane

Select Sketching instead of Modeling
In the Draw Menu, choose Polygon

Adjust [n] to be equal to 4

Drag your pencil close to the
original until it shows you
[p] standing for a point
Since we are having the constrains of
drawing horizontal and vertical lines

Which has 4 edges

The square is typically produced as shown

Select Dimensions and click on it
If you select Horizontal

It looks like this

Then you touch one of the

horizontal lines by the pointer
If you drag the pencil (cursor) to a
certain position and press one click

You thus select the position to

show the dimensions
You thus write the value
of H1 and press ″enter″
Since Dimensions are shown by m

The square is minimized and you

have to make ″zoom in″
You have more than one choice to
magnify

Another choice is Zoom to Fit

Let us choose
″Box Zoom″
To complete the drawing in the 3-D, convert
the sketch of the square into a surface
A dialogue box appears for the details of
the sketch conversion to Surface
Now, press Apply

Choose the four lines one after another

until all are highlighted
Then you consider the item
″operation″
Select Add Frozen
Go to the button
Generate and Press it
You get your surface
like this
At this stage, if you go to the
Workbench screen
It is shown that Drawing is OK
Now in the design modeler
interface, select Extrude
The details of the extrude will
appear
Press Selection Filter:
Faces
Therefore, once you
press inside the face
of the square

Then Press Apply

It is Highlighted
Now consider the
operation of Addition
Select Add Frozen
and press in the region on the right
for the word ″Apply″ to appear

Then go around the Title of Direction

Vector
Press XY Plane to be the
base of the direction vector

The direction can be normal (the default choice)

or reverse
Now Press Generate

The default value of extrusion is 1 m

The extrusion is made by 1 m and this
is why your square is minimized
relative to the created volume
Choose Zoom
Then use the mouse to
concentrate the domain
in the scope of vision
Now, you catch the
domain but it is still not
seen fitted to the screen
Select ″Pan″
By which your
focus will be the
square
You can now move
the square into the
center of vision
Using the roller of the mouse you
will enlarge such zone of interest
Press ″Rotate″
Now, You can see
the whole body
You make Zoom
Let me assume that 1 m is a huge length

You can go back into the details and write

another value such as 0.5
Press Generate
You thus get
shorter length of
Extrusion
Similarly, you can delete
sketches by pressing the
sketch and right click,
then select Delete

Another choice is to delete the

extrusion
A surface body
and a solid body

You can notice that you have 2 bodies

Since the surface body
was only for help

Choose it and click

right to suppress it
You choose it at
that position
Not from that Otherwise, it will remove
position the whole extrusion
Now all the data created (or modified) for the
drawing
