    The slithering snake


    Coiled underneath the house
    Waiting for an opportunity
    To slither into the family

    Its green eyes, enticing


    Its sharp tongue, persuading
    Its beautiful scales, jarring
    Its piercing tail, wagging

    Proudly it came
    Smiling with good intent
    Hidden is its motive
    But its effort uselessly spent
