This settled into some neat staccato articulation after a slightly unsettled opening. The exploration of detail
of dynamic was evident and if the sense of sneakiness was a little lost there was an engagement with the
phrase shaping. The hands worked well together to produce an even sense of line.

Pittarello: Viking Village from Piano Exam Pieces 2021-2023: Grade 1

The tempo was well chosen and if the left hand was not always able to maintain the voicing at this speed
with ease and flexibility, the pulse did not suffer. There was a careful use of detail to tell the story of the
piece with just a misplacement of the left hand at the end.

There was a sense of gentleness and an appreciation of the legato line which brought the playing to life.
Accuracy was not in doubt and the execution was often even.

Technical Work:
The scales were fluent and even. The broken chords were securely formed in rhythm but with errors in the
left hand. 1b was well balanced with some good use of dynamic colour. There were losses of tonality in 3b
which impacted things, but there was detail and evidence of strength in the hands.

Performance Delivery and Focus:

The transitions were smoothly managed and assurance was mostly available. A sense of focus was evident
throughout.

Musical Awareness:
There was a sense of personal connection to much of the music with styles often well defined and
maintained. Commitment was available overall.
