Resources: Ref. LB pg 126-127, SOW pg 11-15, Cambridge Global English Teacher’s
Resource 5, Dictionaries, Some pictures/ reports from magazines / newspapers of
temperatures around the world
Methodology : Brainstorming, Discussion, Explanation
 Previous knowledge of the students will be checked through asking questions like:
What are the strongest forces of nature? Can mankind stop the forces of nature?
How much destruction can they cause?
 After getting the responses of the students teacher will introduce the topic and share the
SLOs with students.
 Students will be asked to give some examples of weather-related disasters from around
the world.
 Discussion will be done about the recent spike in natural disasters such as tornadoes,
forest fires, flooding and landslides throughout the world?
 Teacher will initiate a discussion on the Big question: How can we protect our
environment?
 Teacher will discuss the havoc recent rains have caused in Pakistan in the urban
areas. Students will be asked to suggest ways to reduce/ control urban flooding.
 What are the reasons that lead to urban flooding?

 Students will be asked to follow the instructions for each activity.
 Success criteria will be shared with the students.

2. What are blizzards and how can we maintain our safety while having blizzards?

Methodology : Brainstorming, Discussion, Explanation
 Previous knowledge of the students will be checked through asking questions like:
1. What do you know about rainforests?
2. Why are they special?
 After getting the responses of the students teacher will introduce the topic and share the
SLOs with students.
 Students will be asked to talk about that how do weather conditions affect our daily lives?
Have their lives been disrupted due to weather conditions? What happened?
 C.W: Activities 1 – 6.
 Teacher will instruct the students to describe what is happening in the pictures on Pg
128.
 For Activity 2: Students will be asked to read the text in pairs. Tell them to look up any
difficult words in their dictionaries and annotate the text using lead pencil.
 Students will be asked to follow the instructions for each activity.
