Cookies Final project

Problem statement
Jaylyn opened up a bakery that sells chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter applesauce
brownies. She needs to know how much of each item she should sell to make max profit. Each
batch of cookies makes 36 and each batch of brownies makes 8.

Question
What is the best combination of chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter applesauce brownies
for max profit?

Constraints
Cost: Jaylyn has a total budget of $350
- 1 batch of chocolate cookies cost $7.10
- 1 batch of peanut butter applesauce brownies cost $2.96
Materials: The bakery only has much storage space. It can only hold 72 cups of flour and 10
dozen eggs at a time.
- 1 batch of cookies takes 2 eggs and 3 cups of flour
- 1 batch of brownies takes 1 egg and 1.25 cups of flour
Time: Jaylyn has a total of 48 hours to make her sweets
- 1 batch of cookies takes 30 minutes to make
- 1 batch of brownies takes 60 minutes to make

Pricing
- Cookies sell for $15 per batch(36)
- Brownies sell for $10 per batch(8)
Solution

Step 1: Organize information into a table

Constraints Cookies Brownies Total

Cost $7.10 $2.96 $350

Flour 3 cups 1.25 cups 72 cups

Eggs 2 eggs 1 eggs 10 dozen

Time 30 min 1 hr 48 hrs

Step 2: Write inequalities

Cost 7.10c + 2.96b ≤ 350

Time 30c + 1b ≤ 48

Flour 3c + 1.25b ≤ 72

Eggs 2c + 1b ≤ 10

Step 3: Graph the feasible region

c=x b=y
Step 4: Find the profit for the best solutions

# of cookies (batches) # of brownies (batches) Profit

0 48 337.92

5 45 356.30

24 0 189.60

Reflections
What is something you are proud of from this unit, and if you were to do this project again how
would you refine it further?

I am proud of how efficient I was during this unit. I used my time wisely and finished before the
end of class.I’m also proud of how I strive to understand this unit because I know that this
information will be helpful in the future. If I were to do this project again I would sell the items
and really put this to the test. I’m also pretty sure I messed up at some point during the
calculation ,so I would try to fix that next. Overall I really enjoyed this project and I’m proud of
my outcome.
