All summer in a day

By Ray Bradbury

1. The writer used many literary devices to make this story expressive and interesting
but here I explain two of them. So, one of the literary devices that had been used in
this story is a metaphor. He used it many times throughout the story and one of them
is Margot’s poem, which she read in front of the class “I think the sun is a flower; that
blooms for just one hour”. And the other literary device he used is hyperbole. In the
story it shows at many points but here’s one point when Margot said, they thought
the sun is a coin large enough to buy the world with.

2. She read her poem to express her feelings about the Sun because she was from the
Earth and knows exactly what the sun looks like. This can give us the idea about
Margot’s character that she still knows about the sun even after five years of being
on Venus.

3. The story is told by the third person, one of the pieces of evidence that shows that
this story is told by the third person is that we have only his perspective which is
making this story more interesting, and also, he is not included in this story.

4. As soon as the door opened, she must have felt furious and exasperated because
that was the time she waited for so long and craved and wanted to see that one-hour
moment, but she missed that lovely part. She must have been freaked out and yelled
at other children.

5. The theme of this story is mostly based on jealousy and bullying. All the children
were jealous of Margot that why she remembered all about the sun and bully her by
locking her in the closet.
