SECTION 6

PROPELLER CONTROL UNIT

G E N E R A L

1 The propeller control unit is made up of

a normal governor (sometimes called a pro
peller control unit or constant speed unit), a
beta control valve and a power turbine gover

solenoid valve, which when energized prevents
propeller high pressure oil flow, serves as a
fine pitch stop back up and is included in the
package. The propeller governor performs
two functions: (1) under normal conditions it
acts as a constant speed unit to regulate pro
peller speed by varying propeller blade angle to
match propeller absorption torque to engine
output torque, and (2) during low air speed oper
ation, thepropeller governor is used to set 1 Pneumatic Maximum Adjustment
the required blade angle. While the engine is 2 Governor Maximum Speed Adjustment
