c. perform a creative presentation that promote the Philippine Festival

This time let us know first what festival

dance is. Everybody read!

Festival Dances are cultural dances

performed to the strong beats of
percussion instruments by a community
of people sharing the same culture
usually done in honour of a Patron Saint
or in thanksgiving of a bountiful
harvest. Festival also is a form of
entertainment that attracts foreign and
domestic tourists to visit a place.

There are two types of festival and

those are:

 2. Secular

This time I will present to you the

leading festival of the Philippines. I
want you to take down notes for the
important details.

Activity 1:“LOCATE ME IF YOU

CAN”

Since you are done watching the video.

We will have a game entitled “Locate Yes ma’am.
Me if you can”. Every team should
choose their 5 representatives. I have
here a 3 Philippine Map and strips that
has a corresponding names of the
festival. What you are going to do is to
locate the strips in the Philippine map
you think where it was originated
Luzon, Visayas or Mindano. You only
have 1 minute to do the task. The group
who will finish first and locate correctly
will be declared as the winner and
should say something about the festival.

because of the culture preservation. Not
just culture preservation but many more
reasons. Whatever festival we celebrate,
be it done to honour a religious icon or
to celebrate our industry. Always
 remember that festival dances are a
reflection of the unity of the Filipino
community that despite the economic,
social, environmental, cultural and
political challenges we face every day,
there can be no other race more resilient
than ours!

festival held on the third Sunday of
January in Cebu City, and is the
centre of the Sto. Nino Catholic
celebrations in the Philippines.
2. It is a secular festival that was
created as a tribute to the city’s
flower of Baguio City.
3. This festival is always adorned with
smiling faces because it is called the
city of smiles the city of Bacolod.
4. It is a festival came from the
Dabawenyo word meaning “dayaw”
meaning good, valuable, superior or
beautiful. This festival also is a
celebration of life, bountiful harvest
and serenity of life.
5. This festival is held to honour the
Sto. Nino to celebrate the arrival on
Panay of Malay settlers and the
subsequent selling of the island to
them by the Atis.
