Sheikh et al.

(2012) conducted a study to compare the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the
growth and yield of Capsicum annuum L. var. Ancho San Luis. The study was conducted in a
randomized complete block design with three replicates. The authors applied two different types of
fertilizers, which were organic fertilizer (vermicompost) and inorganic fertilizer (NPK), to the soil
before planting.

The results of the study showed that the application of organic fertilizer significantly increased the
plant height, number of branches, leaf area, and yield of Capsicum annuum compared to the
inorganic fertilizer and control treatments. The authors reported that the application of
vermicompost increased the number of fruits per plant, fruit weight, and total yield of Capsicum
annuum.

On the other hand, the application of inorganic fertilizer did not significantly affect the growth and
yield of Capsicum annuum compared to the control treatment. The authors suggested that the use of
organic fertilizers, such as vermicompost, can improve soil fertility and plant growth, leading to higher
yield and quality of Capsicum annuum.

In conclusion, the study by Sheikh et al. (2012) highlights the potential benefits of using organic
fertilizers in Capsicum annuum cultivation. The study provides important information for farmers and
researchers in developing sustainable and effective fertilization strategies for pepper production. The
findings of this study have implications for improving crop productivity and reducing environmental
impacts of agricultural practices.
