1.2. Review of literature

Literature review basically includes the published articles and journals related to a
particular subject matter. A literature review aims to review the critical points of
current knowledge including the findings and contribution to a particular research
topic and subject matter.

Shreeja, H.N &Gandhimathi, S. (2021). A Study on consumer behavior towards

electronic goods with special reference to Coimbatore City. The objective of this
study was to know about the consumer behavior towards consumer goods. The data
for the purpose of the present study have been collected through primary and
secondary data. Primary data has been collected through structured questionnaire.
The sources of secondary data include published data from books, journals,
periodicals, brouchers, reports etc. Sample size: A total of 200 respondents residing in
Coimbatore have been taken for taken for sample. Sampling procedure: Convenience
sampling technique was followed for collecting response from therespondents. Tools
for analysis: chi-square test, simple percentage analysis, rank analysis and weighted
average method. This study concludes that despite the basic characteristics of
consumers the behaviour pattern of consumers are more or less similar to each other,
particularly in the aspects like quality, preference and decision making. However it is
evident that the present approaches to draw theattention of customers are not
adequate. This study revealed that the customers have awareness on the electronic
goods and most of the goods have becomenecessities and entertainment. The
advertisement in rural area needs to be improved further. The majority of the
respondents recommended to others abouttelevision. Philips audios, Sony CD/DVD
player, HCL computer.

Mallik, A. (2018). A Study on Consumer Buying Behavior on Electronic Goods-An

Empirical Study. The objective of this study was to know understand the brand
preference of the consumer, consumer service satisfaction, reason on decision making
on particular product and reason why consumer prefer particular brand. The data
were collected from the primary sources. This study concludes that about the service

provide for the products like televisions, refrigerators and washing machine.
Showroom should have to provide good parking facility according to the maximum
number of customers, because the respondents have given low rating for this
attributes. According to analysis the respondents could not find handy in finding the
goods in proper place, the company has to effort on the layout design to improve the
customer convenience.

1.5. Research methodology

Research is important both in scientific and nonscientific fields. In our life new
problems, events, phenomena and processes occur every day. Practically,
implementable solutions and suggestions are required for tackling new problems that
arise. Scientists have to undertake research on them and find their causes, solutions,
explanations and applications. Precisely, research assists us to understand nature and
natural phenomena.

Research methodology is a systematic way to solve a problem. It is a science of

studying how research is to be carried out. Essentially, the procedures by which
researchers go about their work of describing, explaining and predicting phenomena
are called research methodology. It is also defined as the study of methods by which
knowledge is gained. Its aim is to give the work plan of research.

1.5.1. Research Design

There are many ways to classify research designs, but sometimes the distinction is
artificial and other times different designs are combined.
Qualitative Research Design: Qualitative research is implemented in cases where a
relationship between collected data and observation is established on the basis of
mathematical calculations. Theories related to a naturally existing phenomenon can be
proved or disproved using mathematical calculations. Researchers rely on qualitative
research design where they are expected to conclude “why” a particular theory exists
along with “what” respondents have to say about it. This study will be based on
qualitative research design.

1.5.2. Nature and sources of data

There are mainly two sources of data. They are primary source and secondary source.

Primary data: Primary source are collected Primary data are those collected by the
researcher on the concerned topic, which are original in nature. In some cases,
primary data are also taken as personal interview, face to face and telephone
interview.

Secondary data : Data collected by someone else for some other purpose (but being
utilized by the investigator for another purpose).. Secondary data is data gathered
from studies, surveys, or experiments that have been run by other people or for other
research. The required for the study is collected directly from the buyers of the
products.

1.5.3. Population and Sample

A research population is also known as a well-defined collection of individuals or
objects known to have similar characteristics. All individuals or objects within a
certain population usually have a common, binding characteristic or trait. The sample
population of this study is respondent of Khandbari.

The geographical selection of this study is Khandbari. Among the resident of

this places 100 people will be taken as sample of the study.

1.5.4. Data collection procedure

Questionnaire is the most evident method of data collection, which is comprised of a
set of questions related to the research problem. This method is very convenient in
case the data are to be collected from the diverse population. It mainly includes the
printed set of questions, either open-ended or closed-ended, which the respondents are
required to answer on the basis of their knowledge and experience with the issue
concerned. The data for this study is collected through questionnaire from the
respondents.

1.5.5. Tools and Techniques of data analysis

The data gathered from the respondents were put in the Microsoft Excel to analyze the
various factors and dependability of the variables. The statistical tool used for the
purpose of the analysis of this study is simple percentage technique and ranking
techniques. After the collection of data through the questionnaire, editing was done
carefully. Based on the responses of the samples, tables were prepared. The data
collected were analyzed and interpreted with the help of tables & figures.

1.6. Limitation of the study

This study include a brief overview of consumers' purchasing decisions for electronic
home appliance items, as well as details about the proposal's goals, study issues, and
literature review, as well as a brief overview of consumer purchasing decisions for
home appliance products and their influencing factors. The limitation of this study are
as under:

1. This study is based only on consumer purchasing behavior of electronic home

appliances.

2. This study is based on primary sources of data collected from the consumer
who is assumed to be true and correct.

3. This study is based on short period of time.

4. This study is only taken 100 respondent of the sample.

5. This study has not used advances statistical tools for analysis of data

1.7. Organization of the study

This study is divided into five chapter which are as under :
Chapter I: Introduction
This chapter deals with the introduction, statement of problem, objective of the study,
limitation of the study and organization of the study.

Chapter II : Review of Literature
