I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards: The learner understands the relationship between the


visible constellations in the sky and Earth’s position along its orbit.

B. Performance Standards: The learner discusses whether or not popular


beliefs and practices with regard to constellations and astrology have scientific
basis.

C. Learning Competencies/Objectives:

During and after 60 minutes, at least 75% of the students with 75% level of proficiency
are expected to:

1. Identify the 12 zodiac constellations and locate them in the night sky;
2. Describe the appearance, history, and mythology of each zodiac constellation; and
3. Apply knowledge of the 12 zodiac constellations to create a group
activity/presentation demonstrating the similarities and differences of each zodiac
sign/constellation.
