Activities:

1. Vocal warm-up (Track #___) About 4 minutes. Title: “___________________________”

Students will listen to the track and make a gentle “______________” sound at the end of each
phrase. Gentle/ quiet/ singing voices only. No yelling or silly voices. Please do this activity 2x.
2. Echo Song (Tracks #_____) About 5-6 minutes. Title: “_____________________”
Students will echo after the woman on the recording. Track 25 should be played as the whole
group echoes her. Track 26 should be used to have students echo as a solo. As the song plays,
walk in front of one student per phrase. After they echo, move to the next student until
everyone has had a turn. About 5 minutes.
3. Singing (Track #____) 8-10minutes. Play 3-4x (Skip 4th time if they are getting antsy).
Title: ___________________________
1x- Just listening to the words. Ask questions after to see if they were listening carefully.
2x- Tapping the beat on our laps. You can change where they tap as song goes on.
3x- Try to sing along. Sit up nice and tall, best singing voices, NO silly voices.
4x- Stand up and sing again, tapping the beat on their legs.
4. Listening/Drawing (Track #______): . 6-10 minutes.
Hand out scrap paper or instrument coloring page. Once everyone has materials, tell them they
can draw/color quietly as they listen. They should draw what they think the music is about or
how the music makes them feel. Play this more than once. They can take these home or leave
them for me. Please have them return crayons to correct box and clean up for story time.
5. Storybook (Track #______): About 10 minutes. Title: “____________________”
Instruct students to show you their listening positions. Once they are quiet, please read the
book to them once, pausing to share the illustrations or to ask questions to keep them engaged
and focused. After reading it once, please play the track and have them listen to the story
version as you turn the pages.

Lining Up:
Have students stand up in the circle, all taking hands. Pick one student to be the “engine” and
one to be the “caboose.” Students can “chug chug chug” quietly as you lead the engine to the
door to make a nice line waiting for the teacher.
