Resume - Hasan Khan
Resume - Hasan Khan
Profile
I am Hasan Khan. I am a junior at Niles North High School here in
Skokie, Illinois. My project's purpose was to see the reaction
melatonin, caffeine, and nicotine would have on Daphnia. These are
substances that are very prevalent in most of our lives, this is one of
the main reasons I chose my topic. Ultimately my conclusion was
that Nicotine raised heart rates the highest, while caffeine actually
lowered them. Melatonin was along the middle. I believe it is
important for everyone to have a slight overview of what they put
into their bodies. Apart from science, some other things I enjoy
partaking in are basketball, biking, video games, and learning about
cars. In the future, I dream of pursuing a career in the medical field,
meaning research will be something that sticks with me throughout
my career.
SKILLS
Using a microscope - This course taught me how to properly use a
microscope to look at things the human eye has difficulty seeing. Using a
microscope was a crucial part of my research as I used it to examine the
daphnia and measure heart rate.
Writing a research paper - During this course I also acquired how to write an
APA formatted paper. This was a very large portion of our grade making sure
we all knew how to thoroughly write a good research paper. We were also
instructed to make an annotated bibliography, going hand in hand with the
research paper.
Statistical Data Analysis - Statistical Data Analysis was another difficult skill I
had to learn. I successfully created graphs and tables based on my data, and
from there I had to make data analysis for each graph.
EXPERIENCE
This class was unlike any other. It was an independent learning experience
where we were allowed to research our own interests with support from our
teachers. Students were given time to do lab work, while also doing our paper.
