EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

One of the technique proposed is creating an online platform to connect people

with NGOs if they want to surrender stray animal or adopting pets or they
have to get any supplies for their furry friends, or it may also entail their
regarding their vaccination and their medication.

Nevertheless, there will be times when pet owners will need assistance in
caring for their pets either at their workplace or on vacation.

As the number of animal abuses has increased, the platform for animal
adoption has been developed worldwide to overcome this mayhem.

For instance, in Meerut there are only around 4-5 animal shelters and then the
volunteer have a tough time while finding one for any stray animal they
rescue.

If the platform for animal adoption is created, the process for sheltering stray
animal would be more organized.

So, the best option is to create an animal care platform where people can
request when and where to send over the rescued animal.

Beside stray animals, they can also surrender their pets if they face any
difficulties in managing them.

Moreover, besides surrendering animal, they can also adopt or foster animals
from the listed animal shelters and vaccinated their animals.

The main objective of this project is to automate the process of serving

towards the welfare of the pets by giving the abandoned pets a place of shelter,
care for them with affection.

Our objective is to:-

a) Develop a platform for animal medication, vaccination, and real time

consultancy from veterinary practitioners.

b) Develop a user-friendly animal adoption platform.

c) Provide platform for food supplements and goods concerned with animals.
The project aims to build a pet-friendly website where the users can get
connected to professional vets, create their pet’s profile, and also share the
picture of some abandoned animals they come across, through which a shelter
can be searched for the poor animal.

The project will start by collecting materials such as books, journals and
technical papers specifically on animal adoption, animal abuse, and
architecture and functionality in its management.
CHAPTER-1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

According to Wikipedia, animal are multicellular, eukaryotic organisms of the
kingdom Animalia. Some of them undergo metamorphosis process and
eventually becomes fixed as they develop. They can move spontaneously and
independently as they are motile. Some of animal such as cats, dogs, hamsters,
ferrets, sugar gliders are made as pets by human. This pets are known with
tame, loyal and spoiled character. Pets are also known as the best medicine to
relief human stress and depression. However, not all pets are lucky to have
great and good master.

Up till today, many activities and campaign has been organized not only by
government but also NGOs around India in order to create the awareness
among human being. For example they have been organized campaign in
school to train these young generation on how to handle pets correctly. They
organized activities related to animal awareness to public and they also have
created several technique online to follows the current technology trends.

NGOs has proposed many technique in order to prevent stray animal to creep
without shelter. One of the technique proposed is creating an online platform
to connect people with NGOs if they want to surrender stray animal or
adopting pets. However this technique still produce poor result when public
have no information about it. Hence, we believe that the reason for the above
is the choice of technique need to be built so that it suit the context in which
the learners are in rather than be generalized to all situation, and people will be
more aware of the platform which can connect them to the animal shelters. As
such, this project will develop a platform for NGOs and public user which
provides adaptable user-friendliness features according to the content of the

1
context surrounding the learners. By doing this, we hypothesize that this
online platform will be the bridge for NGOs and all animal lovers out there.
Accessibility, user-friendliness and context might be defined differently by
different people. In this project, accessible would mean that the platform can
be access on various search engine such as Google, Firefox, Internet Explorer
(IE) and Safari. As for user-friendliness, the definition provided by Webopedia
it said that user friendly refers to anything that makes it easier for novices to
use. In this platform, there are guidelines for new user implemented to assist
them on how to use the platform. Context of the platform will be in English
language to make it more user-friendly.

2
1.3 NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Owning a pet offers significant benefits. While it may have some issues, the
perks of having pets still outweigh them. Specifically, pet owners will have
greater opportunities to exercise and socialize. Likewise, pets are wonderful
companions that can even lower stress levels.

Nevertheless, there will be times when pet owners will need assistance in
caring for pets when on vacation. This isn’t a problem at all. Pet care
companies provide the necessary care services while the owners are not
around. Fortunately, the digital marketing scheme provides a great way for
these pet sitters to promote their stunning services.

Sudden medical help is common if you’re having a little furry baby at home.
There are times when they will fall ill due to infections from parasites or other
serious ailments.

Therefore, you must be ready beforehand to fight such unexpected situations

where you’re dear one falls ill. Preventive care is a great solution to combat
such issues. It includes regular visits to wellness centres, vaccines, and dental
cleanings, etc.

3
1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT

As the number of animal abuse increase, the platform for animal adoption has
been developed worldwide to overcome this situation. Although the platform
has been produced, the efficiency and adaptability of the current system still
does not meet certain specific criteria and there are some field which can be
improvised further. For instant, in Meerut bound there are only around 4-5
animal shelter exist and the founder of the stray animal needs to bring them to
the shelter. This is quite difficult because not all stray animals are tame. If it’s
not wild probably they are scared of human. If the platform for animal
adoption is created, the process for sheltering stray animal would be more
organized. So, the best option is to create an animal care platform where
people can request when and where to send over the stray animal. Beside stray
animal, they can also surrender their pets if they have difficulties in managing
them. Moreover, besides surrendering animal, they can also adopt animal from
the listed animal shelters and vaccinated their animals. This will help to keep
the environment clean without stray and unmanageable animals.

1.4 OBJECTIVE & SCOPE OF STUDY

The main objective of this project is to automate the process of serving

towards the welfare of the pets by giving the abandoned pets a place of shelter,
care for them with affection. The scope of the project is limited to the intranet
for time being it is not deployable on any handheld devices. To provide ease of
working towards the welfare of abandoned, stray, lost, or surrendered pets. It
saves time, paperwork is less, and easy retrieval of records, automating the
system reduces the process of middle man who takes a commission.

Platform for animal rescue has been widely used in this country or other
countries. Its offer significant benefits for individuals, Non-Government
Organizations, and also government but there is still a problem need to be
solved in order to propose the better system. Therefore a platform being
created for animal care is proposed to achieve these objectives:

a) To develop a platform for animal adoption and surrendering.

b) To develop a user-friendly animal adoption platform.
c) To provide better medication facility
d) Will make breeding process hassle free for pet owners as they can
contact their periphery for breeding.
e) Provide platform for food supplements and goods concerned with
animals.

5
1.5 FUTURE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

The project aims to build a pet-friendly Website where the users can get
connected, share their pet’s pictures, and also share the picture of some
abandoned animals they come across, through which a shelter can be searched
for the poor animal. The project also displays items that can be bought by
users for their pets’ nourishment and care. The future implementation of this
project is that later GPS location will be added to the site through which
location of the abandoned animals and shelter for them can be reached easily.
Other features like creative dog emoji and changes in the CSS of the page will
be implemented. As the project is a pet-friendly site, more pet-friendly
products will be added to the purchasing frame of the site.

The project will start by collecting materials such as books, journals and
technical papers specifically on animal adoption, animal abuse, and
architecture and functionality in content management. Research will be done
from time to time for getting a better understanding on this issue. This project
will then focuses on developing and conducting simulating the programming
code and data to test the efficiency of the idea and proceed with the hardware
design and assembly. Some improvement will be done if needed in order to
produce the best and successful designed product.

1.5 LIMITATIONS

An animal care website SWOT analysis is frequently developed in order to

showcase the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that are had by
these organizations.

Strengths
Most animal care business are able to remain profitable and cash flow positive
at any given time given the fact that many animal lovers will seek to adopt
displaced pets from the website
The operating costs are typically considered very low given that most of these
organizations are operated on a not-for-profit basis.
Payroll expenses are low and the primary expense that is had by many of these
organizations are the ongoing patent area costs associated with providing care
to animals that are at the shelter.
Pets are treated as part of the family and many pet-owners are more likely to
spend on their pets than on themselves.

Weakness
Some people are very concerned about the breed of their pet and mostly exotic
breeds are given preference, so if there are chances that the website user can be
unsatisfied if their demand didn’t get served.
One has to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction as sometime pet
owners can become picky and choosy about their pet supplies.
Highly specific paper work is required, be it adoption or surrender of any animal
A robust network has to be setup or a well-established shelter chain has to be
maintained in order to administer a hassle-free paw care website
One has to maintain a hefty social media presence which therefore calls for a
handsome expenditure for the promotion of the website and has to form ties with
the algorithms in order to remain in top searches.

7
Opportunities
Now a days many individuals or couples are looking animals as their surrogate
child ,hence the number of pet owners has increased significantly since last few
decades and so has the demand for a one stop platform for all their pet
requirements
Animal shelters are rapidly expanding by taking on additional animals, hire
additional animal care staff, creating a network of foster homes, and establishing
additional locations in order to house animals. This creates an opportunity
towards an ever expending demand for digital amalgamation for the same.
New players are entering in pet serving market as an example apart from
Pedigree Pet foods, Drools has also entered the market which hereby provides
a need for an option providing platform

Threats
Taming of aggressive animals or animal breeds can pose a threat to the animal
care business as the one who is adopting the animals who be skeptical about the
behavior of the animal which they have opted for adoption , as far as some recent
scenarios are observed which spoke loud enough of animal aggression
Forming network with the shelters is a tedious task in itself. And many work in
their individual capacity by creating their strong presence on social media, and
this in itself is a threat to our platform
As the market is ever expanding there is always room for new and better
network and UI holder players which will be a threat for future relevance.

8
Most frequently, many animal shelters maintain an expansive presence on
social media in order to generate interest in pets that have come up for
adoption. Social media platforms including Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and
Instagram are extremely important for animal shelters given that they are able
to not only showcase pets that are for adoption but are also able to use these
platforms directly for fundraising purposes. As such, a founder or entrepreneur
that is looking to enter the animal shelter industry should have a substantial
focus on promoting their organization or business through social media
platforms. A standalone website should also be developed that allows for
individuals to see the entire number of pets that are available for adoption,
images of pets, and related information about how an individual can acquire a
pet from the animal shelter. This website should be listed among all major
search engines, and a search engine optimization for may be hired so that the
visibility of the website can be boosted over the life of the business.
The sparse data available tells us that about 3,000 veterinarians graduate from
54 veterinary colleges every year. It is, therefore, safe to say that there may be
close to 1,00,000 registered veterinarians in India today.

The veterinary frontline is in crisis - Deccan Herald

A founder or entrepreneur is going to one of the primary concerns that many
of these businesses have that is during times of economic recession there may
be somewhat of a decline in their revenue streams given the fact that a number
of private donations are frequently made to these organizations in order to
have them remain cash flow positive.

CHAPTER - 2
LITERATURE REVIEW

2.1 EXISTING WEBSITE REGARDING ANIMAL CARE

A lot of initiative taken in order to ensure the safety of stray animal from being
targeted for animal abuse because of the absence of human as their owner. Not
only that, animal which have owner had the potential to become the victim of
animal abuse or even worst animal trafficking. The government in cooperate
with Non-Government Organization (NGO) has launch numbers of campaign
in order to make public realize that how it is important to take care of their
own pets and not to abuse stray animal as they are innocent. Many of the
campaign highlighted that irresponsible owner who left their pets on public
area such as at the market or inside the drain with though that the animal can
survive on its own should be punish and fines. Other initiative beside
campaign is by using internet as the medium of communication between the
government and NGOs with public to spread the news or service provided
regarding animal and pets cares.

2.4 ENACTED LAW REGARDING ANIMAL

2.4.1 THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS ACT, 1960

ACT NO. 59 OF 1960 [26th December, 1960.]

An Act to prevent the infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering on animals

and for that purpose to amend the law relating to the prevention of cruelty to
animals.
Definitions.―In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,― (a)
“animal” means any living creature other than a human being.

This research paper is designed to search and analyze the causes of Animal
Rights and how the administration deals with this existent phenomenon. This
paper also attempts at enrooting measures in order to curb the current issue as
effectively as possible.
Research Objective: The study examines three major research questions:
1) The leading causes for this prevalent happening?
2) The measures that can be taken to curb.

Article 21 of the Constitution of India states the right to personal life and
liberty. This is a very vast right. If someone wants to feed and provide shelter
to dogs, he is at liberty to do so. He has the same right to liberty that the law
provides to every citizen of India. Section 503 of the Indian Penal Code 1860,
provides that intimidation is a criminal offence which is cognizable. Anyone
who threatens or intimidates any person taking care of dogs, is liable for
criminal intimidation under Section 503 of Indian Penal Code and can be
arrested without a warrant.

THEORITICAL FRAMEWORK

3.1 DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY

3.1.1 PROJECT ACTIVITY

The process involved are Analysis and Quick Design, Prototyping Cycles
which include –Analysis, Built, Demonstrate and Refine, Testing,
Implementation.

i. Analysis and Quick Design

Analysis and quick design is the phase whereby to identify all relevant
information required in the project such as scope and requirement. Analysis is
done by gathering information from public and animal association which have
more experience in studied field. Besides, I also focus on project requirement
and resources, literature studies and any related information which I can used
in this project. Most of the material is collected from journal, research paper
from Information Resources Centre (IRC) and via internet. To get clearer
view, I also create a quick design or the prototype of the project on how the
platform will look like.

ii. Prototype Cycle which include – Built, Demonstrate and Refine

At this phase, I will start to develop a platform according to prototype

designed and prior discussion with her supervisor. For platform development,
I will use Content Management System (CMS) as the development
environment and using extension from external application to extend platform
capabilities and functionalities.

21
iii. Testing

During this phase, I will be focus on integration of extension modules and

plugin on proposed CMS and follows with unit testing on each of the installed
components. This phase is carried out based on RAD (Research and
Development) method in order to check the system and integration
consistency and field testing will also be carry out to test every single main
functionalities.

iv. Implementation

Implementation is phase whereby the platform is being release for public in

order to test its reliability and functionality. It also to test the user friendliness
of the system by collecting feedbacks from the user. Before being released to
public, the platform is first shown to the supervisor in order to get feedback
and suggestion if there are any improvement can be done.

22
3.2 SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

3.2.1 Framework Development

In order to develop this website, Bootstrap is used as the front end framework.
Bootstraps is open source collection of tools for creating website and web
applications. The aims of Bootstraps is to ease the development of dynamic
websites and web application. Moreover, it also contains HTML and CSS
based templates for forms, buttons, navigation, typography and other interface
component. Not only that, it also contain JavaScript extension. Bootstraps is
easy to use as it compatible with the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Internet
Explorer (IE), Opera and Safari browser.

23
3.2.2 System Architecture for Animal Adoption platform

The system architecture for animal adoption platform consist of several

mechanism, that is the user machine itself, the interface of the page that is
connected to the server and the application that is embedded in the server
whilst connected to the database itself. The user uses their own machine to
access into the website. The website itself is connected to a server.
The server has function to connect the website to the database. However the
database is only accessible for the administrator which is the author. To make
less traffic, the server is separated with its database. This also to increase
security on the database which can prevent from malicious attacks.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

4.1 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research methodology is a way of explaining how a researcher intends to

carry out their research. It's a logical, systematic plan to resolve a research
problem. A methodology details a researcher's approach to the research to
ensure reliable, valid results that address their aims and objectives. It
encompasses what data they're going to collect and where from, as well as
how it's being collected and analyzed.

4.2 RELEVANCE OF THE STUDY

This research has been conducted to survey the website performance and using
behavior of customers in the selection of animal care.
This relevance of the study is to survey the product performance behavior of
“Creature.com” which are used/operated by people of all ages.

4.3 SAMPLE SIZE AND DESIGN

A sample size of 54 people was taken on the basis of convenience. The actual
users were contacted on the basis of random sampling.

4.4 RESEARCH METHOD

Research method used for this is descriptive research. Descriptive research
includes surveys and facts-finding enquiries of different kinds. This major
purpose of descriptive research is description of the state of affairs as it exists
at present.

28
4.5 RESEARCH DESIGN
“A research design is the arrangement of conditions for collecting and
analyzing data in a manner that aims to combine relevance of research purpose
with economy in procedure.”

4.6 SOURCES OF DATA

Primary Data: Primary data comprises information of survey of
“Creaturecare.com”. The data has been collected directly from respondents
with the help of a structured questionnaire.
Secondary Data: Secondary data has been collected from the internet,
references from libraries.

4.7 QUESTIONNAIRE
With the world gone digital, many things have become easier and are available
at hand. Targeting a sample size of 54 with a hard copy questionnaire would
be pretty hard to collect. But with Google form, many things have become
easier.
The whole questionnaire is prepared in a Google form, which actually has
made a lot of things easier for the research.

4.8 Contact Method

The samples involved in the survey are mostly close people known to me.
Some of them are Facebook friends, close friends, relatives & college friends.
The link of the Google form questionnaire was sent to all these people with the
help of Mail, Facebook messenger, & Whatsapp.
The restriction was put in the settings for mandatory sign in to Google
account, so that only one reply from one person is received.
