A sixth sense for project management | Tres Roeder
In our society, there are few issues as important and pressing as the need for
change. Change is the force that propels us forward, that allows us to grow and
adapt to new circumstances, and that gives us hope for a brighter future. But change
does not happen spontaneously – it requires leadership, vision, and courage. In Tres
Roeder’s talk, He explores the role of the leader of change, examining what qualities
they should possess, and what strategies they can use to effect meaningful change.
At the heart of any successful change, effort is a leader who can inspire
others to act. In short simplification, He explained that the leader of change must be
someone with sense of awareness, who understands the needs and aspirations of
those they seek to lead, and who has the ability to communicate clearly and deliver
message effectively. They must also be adaptable and flexible, able to respond to
new challenges and changing circumstances, and to adjust their strategy and tactics
accordingly. In his talk, he also describes how being diplomatic and persistent gives
an impact on being a leader of change to better shape the future.
In addition to possessing these personal qualities or he called it as “the 6
disciplines”, In my own personal realization after I watched the video, the leader of
change must also be confident and have a good sense of persuasion. In the video,
under “clear communication”, he also describes the relevance of followers on being a
leader of change. They must be able to articulate a compelling vision of the future,
one that is both desirable and achievable, and to convince others to embrace that
vision as their own or he called it the “core”. This requires a deep understanding of
human psychology, and the ability to appeal to people's emotions, values, and sense
of identity. The leader of change must be able to paint a picture of a better future,
one that is worth striving for, and to show people how their own lives will be
improved by working towards that goal.
Of course, inspiring people must be part of the process. The leader of change
must also be able to motivate people to act, to overcome the resistance that so often
stand in the way of progress. Tres made a clear message of how adaptability is very
important in leading. This requires strategies and tactics, depending on the situation
and the people involved.
Finally, I’ve come to realize that it is important to remember that change rarely
happens overnight. It requires patience, perseverance, and resilience. The leader of
change must be able to overcome obstacles, to stay focused on their goal. They
must also be able to learn from their mistakes and adapt their approach as needed.
In conclusion, the leader of change is a vital figure in our society, one who has
the power to shape the future and to create a better world for us all. To be an
effective leader of change possesses a range of personal qualities such as rational,
emotional and political. And to achieve those, according to him they must follow the
6 disciplines.
