CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

This chapter includes the project’s background, objectives, significance, scope,

limitations, and definition of terms.

1.1. Background of the Project

Programming has become an essential skill in today's digital age. As more and more
industries rely on technology, the demand for programmers continues to grow. However,
for beginners, learning to program can be a daunting task, especially if they do not have
any prior experience in coding. Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is a great place to

start if you are interested in learning how to build and design websites. This project
website will introduce you to HTML by building a personal website that you can use in
the future. Once you learn the basics, you will know how to change the website's design
and add personalized content.

HTML is the standard markup language used to display documents in a web browser.
First developed by Tim Berners-Lee in 1990 while working at the European Organization
for Nuclear Research (CERN), HTML was one of the key innovative technologies used
to publish the world's first website on August 6, 1991. Since that time, HTML has been
significantly updated and expanded, but its basic purpose of formatting and structuring
web pages remains the same. Today, HTML is one of many tools used to build the web.
Knowing how to write HTML will provide a strong foundation for your career as a web
designer and prepare you to learn additional front-end web development skills like CSS
and JavaScript.

1.2. Objectives of the Project

The main objective of this project is to create a user-friendly and accessible resource for
ITE college freshmen who want to learn the HTML programming language. Specifically,
the project aims to:

 Provide an accessible and user-friendly manual.

 Help ITE college freshmen build a solid foundation in HTML through simple
tutorials and examples.
 gaining knowledge of HTML syntax, elements, and attributes and how they are
used to create simple web pages.
 Promote the importance of basic HTML concepts as a valuable skill in today's
digital age.

1.3 Significance of the Project

ITE college freshmen This project will be highly beneficial for ITE college freshmen,
especially those who may not have any prior experience in programming. It will provide
them with the necessary knowledge and skills to create simple web pages using HTML.
This project will also serve as a stepping stone for students who want to pursue a career
in web development.

1.4 Scope and Limitations of the Project

The scope of this project focuses only on ITE college freshmen who are new to HTML
and offers an accessible introduction to the HTML programming language. It covers only
the basic concepts and does not dive into advanced topics.

The limitations of this project are, that it does not cover the other programming languages
used in web development, such as CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap, and it is not intended
for students who already have an advanced understanding of HTML.

1.5 Definition of Terms

Programming: The process of designing, writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining the
source code of software applications or computer programs

Web development: is the process of creating websites and applications for the World
Wide Web (WWW) or private networks.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets): is a style sheet language used to describe the presentation
of a document written in HTML.

JavaScript is a programming language used to create interactive and dynamic effects on

web pages.

Bootstrap: is a free and open-source CSS framework used for responsive and mobile-first
front-end web development.

Markup language: A system of annotating a document in a way that is syntactically

distinguishable from the text. In HTML, the markup tags are used to specify the structure
and content of the web page.

3|Page
Syntax: A set of rules that define the structure and order of elements in a programming
language

Elements: The individual components that make up a web page, such as headings,
paragraphs, and images.

Attributes: properties that define characteristics of HTML elements, such as the color or
size of text.

RESULTS, CONCLUSIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

2.1 Acceptance Test Results

2.2 Conclusions

2.3 Recommendations

o Expand the project scope to include more advanced HTML topics and other

languages commonly used in web development, such as CSS and JavaScript.

o Consider creating additional resources for students who want to continue learning

beyond the basics covered in this project, such as online courses or workshops.

3|Page
o Seek feedback from ITE college freshmen to improve the user-friendliness and

effectiveness of the project materials.

o Collaborate with web development professionals to provide students with real-

world examples and industry insights.

o Develop a community or forum for students to ask questions, share their projects,

and connect with peers who are also learning HTML.
