The Cavite insurgents under Emilio Aguinaldo were able to expel the Spanish after repeated failed

efforts. Later, the Magdalo (Aguinaldo's) and the Magdiwang (Bonifacio's) Katipunan organizations split
apart. The two sides met in the Tejeros Convention, where officers for the revolutionary government
were chosen. When Bonifacio lost the election for president, he was given a low-level position. In
opposition to Aguinaldo, he established his own administration. Aguinaldo detained Bonifacio after
learning about the situation. Bonifacio received a death sentence in 1897 after being charged with
treason and sedition.

Every year on November 30 in the Philippines, Bonifacio Day is celebrated. A national holiday is observed
in Andrés Bonifacio's honor. A secret brotherhood of revolutionaries called the Katipunan was founded
by Bonifacio. He is referred to as the "Father of the Philippine Revolution" since he launched the uprising
in the Philippines against the Spanish Empire. Andrés Bonifacio is recognized on his birthday, as opposed
to José Rizal, who is honored on Rizal Day, the anniversary of his passing. This is because his native
countrymen executed him rather than outside colonizers.

He first made a living by creating bamboo canes and paper fans, which he then sold himself. As a result,
he was able to keep track of the larger problems and worries affecting the country as a whole. However,
his family's bare survival depended heavily on the limited revenue from handicrafts. He found work as a
messenger at a British company called Fleming and Company despite having little experience and no
formal education, and later moved on to a position as a warehouse keeper at a foreign trading company
called Fressel & Company. Being naturally independent and eager to learn and absorb new things, this
new environment gave him the chance to learn Spanish by listening to conversations in the language,
which helped him increase his vocabulary and improve his proficiency in the language.
