Activity 1:

Compare and contrast between vectors and scalars and explain why is It important to
understand it’s difference for physics:

Scalars measure only magnitude, while vectors measure both magnitude and direction,
Vectors are important since they us to solve complex questions about physics and even about
life.

What is physics and why is it important?

Physics is the study of matter, energy, space, and time. It is a natural science that tries to
explain the fundamental principles that govern the behavior of the world around us. From the
smallest subatomic particles to the largest structures in the universe, from the smallest
changes in motion to the largest changes in star formation and galaxy formation, physics seeks
to explain them all.

Physics is important for many reasons. For one, it helps us understand how the world works,
from the everyday phenomena we encounter to the larger-scale events that we might not be
able to witness. It also underpins many other fields of science and engineering, including
chemistry, biology, and electronics, which rely on the principles of physics to function.

What is velocity:
Velocity is a vector quantity that describes the rate of change of an object's displacement with
respect to time. It is a measure of both the speed and direction of an object's motion.

What is acceleration:
Acceleration is a measure of the rate at which an object changes its velocity. It is defined as the
change in velocity of an object over time. When an object accelerates, its speed, direction of
motion, or both, can change

Why are velocity and Acceleration vectors?

Velocity and acceleration are both vectors because they have both magnitude and direction.
Magnitude refers to the amount or size of the quantity being measured, while direction refers
to the path or orientation of the quantity.
