The Interdial Zone and Rocky Shore
Dogwhelks - They are mostly found in the Middle Shore, and they are
adapted to their environment by developing small teeth, which means
that crabs are less likely to dislodge them. They have also learned to
hide in macrohabitats in sandy crevices to protect themselves from the
waves.
Crabs - They are, again, found in the Middle Shore, which is where
their food comes from. They are adapted to their environments by
having a hard and tough outer layer to slow evaporation. They then
have their claws do defend themselves as well as catch predators.
Sea Birds - Even though they use the rocky shores as a place to rest after hunting,
sometimes they get food from there as well. They normally have to dive for it, as the
crabs and other animals that they eat or in the Middle Shore, but sometimes they just
grab it.
However, this is just a food chain. There are many different
food webs that show
a connection between
different food chains.
Here is an example.
