Helpful Hints

• Cut out the pattern taking note of the grains and instructions written on the pattern pieces as
this will assist in the construction of your shirt.
• Seam allowance is 1cm (3/8th )
• Pin, mark and cut all pattern pieces, make sure you clip all the notches. The pocket is sewn to
the left front only.
• Fuse the collar, collar stand and cuff 4

Construction

1. COLLAR AND COLLAR STAND. With right sides facing sew the outer and side edges of the 9
collar, clip the corners and turn to the right side and press. Press the lower edge of the outer 2
collar stand upward. Place the collar between the collar stands and stitch together
sandwiching the collar between the two collar stands. See collar and stand diagram.
2. FRONT BODY. Press the double folded fronts on both the left and front body, see markings on 5
the pattern. Once pressed sew a top stitch down the front to hold the fold back in place.
3. With right sides together fold over the pocket top and stitch down each outer edge, clip the
corners and turn out the top of the pocket, press the three outer edges of the pocket to the
inside. Pin the pocket to the left front as marked on the pattern, once in place stitch on.
4. BACK BOX PLEAT. Follow the notches on the back body to create a 5cm/2”box pleat.
Match the two outer notches of the pleat and stitch from the yoke edge to the hem. Press the
box pleat flat and sew a stitch across the top and the hem of the box pleat to keep in place.
5. Fold the loop lengthways and sew, turn to the right side and stitch the loop into the back
