Proposed Constitutional Amendment


ELEVATING THE STANDARDS TO QUALIFY FOR AND TO PASS ANY CONSTITUTIONAL
AMENDMENT
Proposed by Joint Resolutionof the General Assembly
To amend Sections Ib, le, and 1g ofArticle II and Sections 1 and 3 ofArticle XVI of the
Constitutionofthe Stateof Ohio
A majority yes vote is necessary for the amendment to pass.
The proposed amendment would:
«Require that any proposed amendment to the Constitutionof the Stateof Ohio receive the
approvalofat least 60 percent ofeligible voters voting on the proposed amendment.
«Require that any initiative petition filed on or after January 1, 2024 with the Secretary of State
proposing to amend the Canstitutionofthe StateofOhiobesigned by at least five percentof the
eligible votersofeach county in the state.
«Specify that additional signatures may not be added to an initiative petition filed with the:
SecretaryofState on or after January 1, 2024 proposing to amend the Constitutionof the State of
Oho.
Ifpassed, the amendment shallbe effective immediately.

ofthe StateofOhio that the foregoing text is the ballot language prescribed by the Ohio Ballot Board,
acting pursuant 10 Article Il, Section 1gof the Ohio Constitution and section 3505.062ofthe Revised
CodeofOhio, for his constitutional amendment proposed by the General Assembly for submission to
the Ohio electorate at the election to be eld on August 8, 2023.
