Carbon Treatment

a) Transfer the solution to treatment tank and heat to 55 °C - maintain solution temperature at 55 °C
throughout treatment process. Also, turn on Air Agitation. Meanwhile, take out the Anode basket
and leach Anode’s with 5% Sulphuric Acid

b) Analyse the solution and add any necessary Nickel Sulphate, Nickel Chloride according to Semi-
Bright Nickel requirement .

c) Add 5-7 g of Activated Carbon per litre of solution, then continue only circulation without filter for
2 hours.

d) Turn off heating and agitation, and allow carbon to settle for at least 4 hours (preferably
overnight).

e) Filter the solution back into clean plating tank (ensure that the filtrate is free from carbon).

i) Add any necessary boric acid, adjust the pH to the optimum value and make a full
addition of the appropriate wetting agent based upon Surface Tension
ii) Also, analyse other additives and  make necessary adjustment according to TDS of
Semilux

High Ph Carbon treatment:

a) Transfer to treatment tank and heat to 65 °C - maintain solution temperature at 65 °C throughout

treatment process.

b) Analyse the solution and Add any necessary Nickel Sulphate, Nickel Chloride according to Satin
Nickel requirement

c) Raise the pH to 5.6 - 5.8 using Nickel Carbonate (or dilute Sodium Hydroxide solution).

d) Add Potassium Permanganate 0.5 gm/l (pre-dissolved in water) until a pink colouration is
maintained in the solution for at least 10 minutes, then continue to agitate the solution for 30 mins -
1 hour.

e) Add 1-2 ml of Hydrogen Peroxide (30 %) per litre of solution, then continue to agitate for 1 - 2
hours.

f) Turn off air agitation and add 5-7 g of Activated Carbon per litre of solution, then continue to
pump agitate the solution for 1 - 2 hours.

g) Turn off heating and agitation, and allow carbon to settle for at least 4 hours (preferably
overnight).

h) Filter the solution back into clean plating tank (ensure that the filtrate is free from carbon).

i) Add any necessary boric acid, re-adjust the pH to the optimum value and make a full
addition of the appropriate wetting agent.
ii) Also, analyse for P1 and P2 and make necessary adjustment according to TDS
Carbon Treatment
j) Determine Hull Cell test and make the necessary addition to working nickel solution.
