1. The author's goal in writing this article is to investigate the idea of

unearned privilege and examine how we might become more conscious of it in

our daily lives. This is significant because unearned privilege may result in

differences in people's chances and results. If we can become more aware of our

undeserved advantage, we can try to level the playing field for everyone.

2. The author's problem in the article is that we often take our advantages

in life for granted. We may be unaware of them, but they provide us with an

advantage over others who do not have the same advantages. This can result in

disparities in people's opportunities and outcomes. We can work to level the

playing field for everyone by becoming aware of our unearned privilege.

3. The questions offered as an effective means of unpacking the invisible

knapsack are helpful in revealing unearned privilege because they make us think

about the ways in which we benefit from our privileges.

For example, a question such as "Have you ever been able to get a job

without having to disclose your criminal history?" makes us think about how we

may have benefited from our privilege of not having a criminal record. This
question helps us to become aware of our privilege and to think about how we

can use our privilege to help others who do not have the same advantages.

4. The author defines "radical empathy" as the ability to understand and

share another person's feelings. This level of empathy is possible if we are

willing to put ourselves in the shoes of others and see the world through their

eyes. Radical empathy is important because it can assist us in understanding and

connecting with people who are unlike us. It can also help us see the world in

new ways and find ways to help others.

5. The author's experience in the health coaching call center has

influenced his ability to be empathetic because it has provided him with a better

understanding of the difficulties that people face in their lives.

This understanding enables him to be more compassionate and relate to

the people with whom he communicates. This is significant because it can help

him better understand the needs of the people with whom he is conversing and

find ways to assist them.
