EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES

Emerging technologies is a term generally used to

describe a new technology, but it may also refer to the
continuing development of an existing technology.
Emerging technologies are defined by five attributes:
radical novelty, fast growth, coherence, prominent
impact, and uncertainty and ambiguity. At present,
four technologies are emerging at a faster pace:

 Green technology
 Nanotechnology
 Biotechnology
 Mechatronic
GREEN TECHNOLOGY

“Green tech” refers to a type of technology that is

considered environmentally friendly based on its
production process or its supply chain. Green tech—an
abbreviation of "green technology"—can also refer to
clean energy production, the use of alternative fuels,
and technologies that are less harmful to the
environment than fossil fuels.

Although the market for green technology is relatively

young, it has garnered a significant amount of
investor interest due to increasing awareness about
the impacts of climate change and the depletion of
natural resources. The goal of green tech is to protect
the environment, repair damage done to the
environment in the past, and conserve the Earth's
natural resources.

NANOTECHNOLOGY

Nanotechnology is the study and application of

extremely small things and can be used across all the
other science fields, such as chemistry, biology,
physics, materials science, and engineering. In 1959
the American Nobel prize and physicist Richard
Feyman was the first to speak about the applications
of nanotechnology at the California Institute of
Technology (Caltech).

Nanotechnology is helping to considerably improve,

even revolutionize many technology and industry
sectors: information technology, homeland security,
medicine, transportation, energy, food safety, and
environmental science, among many others

BIOTECHNOLOGY

Biotechnology is technology that utilizes biological

systems, living organisms or parts of this to develop or
create different products. With the development of
genetic engineering in the 1970s, research in
biotechnology developed rapidly because of the new
possibility to make changes in the organisms’ genetic
material (DNA). Biotech is helping to heal the world
by harnessing nature’s own toolbox and using our
own genetic makeup to heal and guide lines of
research by reducing rates of infectious disease, and
combating serious illnesses and everyday threats
confronting the developing world.

MECHATRONICS

Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field that refers

to the skill sets needed in the contemporary, advanced
automated manufacturing industry. At the
intersection of mechanics, electronics, and
computing, mechatronics specialists create simpler,
smarter systems. Mechatronics is an essential
foundation for the expected growth in automation
and manufacturing.

Mechatronics deals with robotics, control systems, and

electro-mechanical systems. It is cost effective and it
can produce high quality products. Production of
parts and products of international standards gives
better reputation and return. It also serves effectively
for high dimensional accuracy requirements, provides
excellent performance characteristics and increases
productivity in manufacturing organization.

As more businesses advance their technologies and

turns to sophisticated intelligent systems and robotics,
mechatronics engineering will continue to grow in
demand.

CONCLUSION

Emerging technologies has a range of advantages for businesses and

business stakeholders. These technologies are better and more efficient in
manufacturing techniques. There is less wastage and an ability to
develop new innovative approaches. Therefore, we must accept new
technologies for a better future because the impact of a technology is
higher than what we expect.
