1) wawa bridge

According to Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao of Bayambang

town in Pangasinan province on Friday (Oct. 21,2022)
said two overloaded trucks caused the collapse of
the Carlos P. Romulo Bridge (also known as Wawa
Bridge) on Thursday afternoon.

In a radio interview, Quiambao said the bridge’s capacity

was 20 tons but the two trucks carried a combined load of
40 to 50 tons.

2)OLD CLARIN BRIDGE bridge

The collapse of the decades-old

and previously quake-stricken
Clarin Bridge in Loay, which was
supposedly days away from being
replaced by a newer bridge, was
mainly caused by vehicle
overloading, a provincial
government official said.

According to Provincial Disaster

Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) chief Anthony Damalerio, there were
at least 12 vehicles on the bridge when the structure located at the boundary
of Barangays Poblacion Ubos and Villalimpia in Loay collapsed at past 4 p.m.
on Wednesday.

“The main cause was the overload. About 12 vehicles ang nasa ilalim pa ng
dagat. That is confirmed,” said Damalerio.

The bridge was constructed in the 1970s and was among the infrastructures
jolted by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that hit Bohol in 2013.

“Affected ‘to during the 2013 earthquake. There were some retrofitting
interventions done by the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways. The
new bridge is already under construction,” said Damalerio.

Bridge cracked and dislodged from the main
bridge

and gravel crossed early Monday morning, Sept.
26.

According to Emmanuel Marron,

operations and warning officer of the
Sibalom Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office
(MDRRMO), the truck was overloaded, carrying 30 cubic meters of aggregates
– a lot heavier than the maximum capacity of the bridge.

4) tulay na luma

One person died, three were hurt, while seven remain missing after a
suspended steel bridge in Sitio Talisayan, Barangay Sampaloc IV
collapsed Tuesday night, July 26.

Barangay Information Officer April Rose Movido told the Manila

Bulletin that as of 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, three victims
have sustained minor injuries while six to seven persons remain
missing.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office told the
Manila Bulletin that rescue operations are still ongoing as of 8:00
a.m. but refrained from providing an official victim count.

Movido said that the bridge, locally known as "Tulay na Luma" or

"Tulay na Hapon," has long been closed to the public as it is very old.
However, some residents, particularly the youth, often hang out on the bridge despite its
compromised structural integrity.

5). Borja Bridge

Nobody was harmed as the Borja Bridge in Barangay Algeria,

Catigbian, Bohol buckled while a 12-wheel truck was passing
Thursday, June 16., 2022.

The Catigbian Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and

Management Office (CMDRRMO) said the truck bound for
Ubay was loaded with sand when it crossed the bridge.

According to Jake Maglajos of the CMDRRMO, the

truck was believed to be over the bridge’s weight limit of 20 tons, causing the structure to collapse.  The driver
of the truck escaped unscathed.

Maglajos said the bridge is already old and half of its lane was closed after a one-inch gap in its abutment was
discovered.

The bridge, which was damaged when a strong earthquake rocked Bohol in 2013, collapsed less than two
months after that in Loay, Bohol.

This is another earthquake-damaged bridge which was allowed to be in use despite authorities knowing
the bridge was unsafe. Like the previous bridge it collapsed under the weight of an overloaded truck.
