PROJECT BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

In response to the rising demand for reliable and renewable energy sources in metropolitan areas,
the project to install solar lights on the streets has been undertaken. For illuminating streets, parks,
and other public spaces, solar lights are a cheap and dependable option. Due to their lack of
emissions and need for electricity, they are also environmentally benign. Communities can gain from
increased safety and security, as well as lower energy costs, by putting solar lights on the streets.
Additionally, the use of renewable energy sources helps reduce the amount of greenhouse
gases released into the atmosphere. This project is also a positive contribution to the
community as a whole, providing improved access to public areas and infrastructure.
Furthermore, the solar lights can be used to create aesthetically pleasing lighting displays,
adding to the beauty of the city.

The Solar Lights Installation on Street project has the potential to reduce energy
consumption and air pollution in urban areas, while also providing a reliable and affordable
source of lighting. This project is designed to provide an efficient, cost-effective, and
sustainable solution for reducing energy consumption and air pollution in urban areas. By
utilizing solar energy to power street lights, this project can help reduce energy consumption
and air pollution, while also providing improved visibility and safety for both pedestrians and
drivers.

II. PLANNING PHASE

A. RESOURCES

 Solar Panels: Solar panels are the most important resource for powering the solar
street lights. These solar panels will convert solar energy into electricity which can
be used to power the street lights.
 Batteries: Batteries are needed to store the energy generated by the solar panels for
later use.
 Lighting Fixtures: Lighting fixtures are needed to mount the solar street lights on the
street poles.
 Street poles: Street poles will be needed to mount the solar street lights.
FUNDING

 Government Grants: Governments often offer grants to help fund solar street lights.
These grants are typically offered to local governments and organizations, such as
non-profits, who are interested in installing solar street lights in their communities.
 Private Funding: Private companies and individuals may also be willing to provide
funding for solar street lights.
 Tax Incentives: Tax incentives may be available to businesses and individuals who
install solar street lights.

MANPOWER

 Skilled electricians: Skilled electricians are needed to install and maintain the solar
street lights.
 Engineers: Engineers are needed to design the solar street

C. PROJECT PROCEDURE

(FLOW CHART)

1. Research and Estimate Costs: Research the cost of the solar lights and the labor associated with
installing the lights. Estimate the total cost of the project, including the cost of any other accessories
or materials needed.

2. Develop a Plan: Create a detailed plan for the installation of the solar lights, including diagrams of
the street layout, the location of each light, the types of materials needed, and any safety
precautions that must be taken.

3. Obtain Approval: Submit the plan for approval to the local government and obtain any necessary
permits.

4. Purchase Materials: Purchase the solar lights and any other materials needed for the installation.

5. Install Lights: Install the lights according to the plan. Make sure that the lights are securely
mounted and that all safety precautions are followed.

6. Test Lights: Test the lights to make sure they are working properly.

7. Monitor: Monitor the lights to make sure they are working properly and to identify any potential
issues.

D. PROJECT IMPLICATION

The installation of solar lights for streets has the potential to improve public safety and
security, reduce energy consumption and pollution, and reduce electricity costs. Public
Safety and Security: Solar lights for streets can help to illuminate dark areas, making them
safer for pedestrians and drivers.

This can also help reduce the number of traffic accidents, as well as crime, as criminals are
less likely to target areas that are well lit. Energy Consumption and Pollution: Solar lights for
streets can reduce energy consumption and pollution significantly, since they rely on
renewable energy sources such as the sun. This means that no electricity is wasted, and no
harmful emissions are produced.
Cost Savings: Solar lights for streets can help to reduce electricity costs, as they require no
electricity to run. This can result in significant savings for municipalities, which can then be
invested in other projects or services.

E. PROJECT FLAVY

(SET OF ACTIVITIES)

1. Measure the area and calculate the energy requirements: Measure the size of the area
and calculate the energy requirements for the solar street lights.

2. Select the right lights and material for installation: Select the right solar lights and other
materials for installation according to the energy requirements.

3. Prepare the area for installation: Level the surface and dig the necessary holes for
installing the lights.

4. Install the solar lights and other material: Install the solar lights and other materials like
poles, wires and fixtures.

5. Connect the solar lights to the power source: Connect the solar street lights to the power
source and make the necessary wiring connections.

6. Test the lights: Test the solar lights to make sure that they are working properly.

7. Clean up the area: Clean up the area after the installation is complete.

REFLECTION: SLOGAN POSTER

Slogan: "Light Up the Future: Go Solar!" Poster Design: A bright yellow sun in the center of
the poster with rays radiating outward. On the left side of the poster is a cartoon of a city
street with people walking, and on the right side is a cartoon of the same street lit up with
solar powered street lights. The slogan is written in bold yellow text across the top of the
poster.
