WHAT'S THE PACK?

Part I: Optimization
a. With your group, decide on a type of product from the list below which you want to identify volume optimization. Your goal is to optimize the packaging to help the environment as
plastic is still the leading material in packaging.

175g bath soap 1L soy sauce 1kg macaroni noodles 1L soda 260g corned beef

600g sliced bread 85g potato chips 1kg spaghetti noodles 165g block of cheese 1L vinegar

b. After choosing the product, you must research the best 3D figure to package your chosen product.
c. Once you have chosen the 3D figure to use, create a paper prototype and calculate for the best packaging design using the concept of optimization. You must be consistent with your unit
of measurements.

Part II: Related Rates

Congratulations! Your group successfully created the most effective packaging for the company both for environmental and economical purposes. Now, your task is to figure out how
much the company will actually earn in revenue. Here are the details you need to know:
2
a. The company's revenue is defined as 𝑅(𝑥) = 30, 000𝑥 − 12𝑥 in PHP.
b. Due to the repackaging that your group did, the sales went up at the rate of 20 units per day.

Figure out how fast the revenue is increasing when 1000 units have been sold.

What you need to submit:

On the scheduled day and time of the Calculus assessment, you must submit the following printed on short bond papers and stapled:
1. Cover Page (with your group members’ full names and section)
2. Paper Prototype diagram documentation (show how and why your design works)
3. Complete calculations (show all necessary calculations, emphasizing optimization and related rates)
4. Answer to this question: Based on your design and calculations, do you think a similar product company should follow your design? Why or why not?
