INTRODUCTION:

- It’s been 3 long years of hardships and suffering through the European continent, and
even though I’m not supposed to go out of the script, I can’t help but say that I know I am
not the only one who is sick of this ongoing war. Today is no exception to the tiring news
we get every single day.
---
- As Today News has just informed us, the extensive empire of the United States of
America looks like it might be joining this “Great War”, and on the side of the Allied
countries! Today April 6th, 1917, Europe has received the news that the American
Congress has approved a resolution declaring war on Germany.

- The entrance of the United States into the war was something that was bound to happen
sooner or later, after the German Government had tested and tempted the Americans’
limits in a deadly gamble. One of the most important events that striked tension between
these two countries was that of the Submarine Warfare.
- As we probably remember, 2 years ago in May of 1915, a German U-Boat sank
the British passenger liner Lusitania, where not only about 1,000 people were
killed, but around 130 of these were Americans. Germany kept sinking and
attacking allied ships, leading President Wilson to have no choice but to end up
breaking diplomatic relations with the Germans.

- The German state had stated that they didn’t want the United States to enter the war, and
most of the Americans agreed that this war was strictly a European Conflict, yet how did
we end up at this point?

- As we have stated on the last news, March of this same year, in the American Newspaper,
a printed message from the German Foreign Minister, Arthur Zimmerman, was leaked. In
this message, he stated to his ambassador in Mexico that if they promised their support,
in return the Germans would help them regian the territory lost from war with the United
States
- Germany shouldn’t have fiddled with business that wasn’t theirs, because the
United States is a bigger force to be feared than what it looks like.

Thousands of US men have begun to be drafted and recruited into the army. We hope that the
entrance of the colossal empire that is the United States of America brings us the peace we
deserve. This is Federica Yanes live on Today News.
