Bullying
What is bullying?
Bullying is a problem not only because children miss school, but they also lose focus on their
school work, experience increased anxiety, suffer from high blood pressure, and sometimes
even turn to suicide.
Bullies focus on children or adults who stand out in some way. In schools, LGBT youth,
children with disabilities, and socially isolated people may be at an increased risk of being
bullied. A recent study showed that autistic children are more prone to bullying.
Some of the warnings that someone is being bullied are: anxiety, depression, stress and
self-esteem problems.
Family members can help fight bullying by learning about their loved ones' friendship circles,
asking about school or work, and understanding the victim's concerns. It is important to
encourage children, youth and adults to do what they love.
