Su Vida:

1) She was born on July 6, 1907, Mexico City.

He grew up in the family home, where it is now called the blue house, and
it was turned into a museum.
His father is of German descent and a photographer. He emigrated to
Mexico where he met and married his mother Matilde of Spanish descent.
Frida Kahlo had two older sisters and one younger sister.
j
Frida Kahlo has poor health in her childhood. She contracted polio at the
u age of 6, this made one of her legs much thinner than the other, for this
reason she always wore long skirts. Her father encouraged her to do many
l sports to recover, she played soccer, swam and even wrestled, which is
very unusual at that time for a girl.
i 2 and 3) Her painting had realistic and surreal components, normally she
painted herself in portraits or painted personal situations, she said "I paint
myself because I am often alone and I am the subject I know best"
4) In 1922 Frida has a bus accident, this was very serious, and she must
stay hospitalized for 9 months without being able to move since she
suffered fractures in her hip and left her in a lot of pain, to alleviate the
pain she begins to paint.
Since that accident, Frida has had to undergo up to 32 operations and
spent a lot of her life with little mobility. This accident is where some of
his most famous works come from.
The broken spine, Henry Ford Hospital etc.….
5) About a week after her 47th birthday, Frida Kahlo passed away. It was
reported that he died of a pulmonary embolism, but it is said that he died
of a possible suicide.
Her husband:
Frida Kahlo attended the renowned National Preparatory School in Mexico
City in 1922, and soon became famous for her outspokenness and
courage. At this school she met the famous Mexican artist Diego Rivera for
the first time, and later would be her husband.
His relationship with Diego was not ideal since there were several

d infidelities on both sides, they also had separate houses and studios. In
1939 they divorced but remarried in 1940. She wanted to have children
but was unable to do so due to her accident.
i
how is it remembered?
e
Frida Kahlo's fame has been increasing after her death. Her Casa Azul was
g inaugurated as a museum in 1958. In the 1970s, interest in her work and
life was renewed due to the feminist movement, since she was considered
o an icon of female creativity.

Kahlo, a symbol of feminism

Her great achievement was to become a feminist symbol, since she
vindicated the role of women in society since women were represented
according to masculine figures.
Frida Kahlo was a painter in the 20th century and, in a world of men (who
were the ones in charge of receiving artistic recognition), Frida not only
stood out but also opened a path for all those women who were sure of
themselves and of his talent.
Frida decided to create her image as if it were a work, and she wanted to
j focus it on the fight towards equality. She masculinized her appearance,
allowing and accepting facial hair, and forgot about the gender
u stereotypes that were so popular at the time.
Frida is a symbol of feminism for more than just her paintings. Although
a the fact that a woman had come so far in the world of painting in those
times already has much to applaud, Kahlo wanted to be a fighting woman
n in other fields, such as politics.
A defender of Marxism and indigenous rights, she was actively involved in
m politics, a role that was assigned almost exclusively to the male gender.

a Frida was a free woman, and this was reflected in her works, in which she
spoke openly about sexuality, abortion, breastfeeding or motherhood. She
gave a voice to repressed women, who did not leave their homes or who
did not speak freely because that did not correspond to their gender.
Today it is known worldwide and has become a true icon for many women
who fight for their freedom.
