Autonomous Technology and

Grinch Bots
Autonomous Technology refers to any kind of
technology that can function without being told what to
do by an individual. It's a stream of innovation in which
sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality
and analytical capabilities work together without
human intervention to perform tasks and respond to
changes in a device or system’s environment.
Autonomous technology has substantial advantages in
terms of efficiency, cost savings, and safety. These
machines are prepared to have a major impact in the
off-road environment. Grinch Bots on the other hand,
started way back 2017, where online entities take advantage of purchasing popular goods once it
hits the market or even when it goes on sale. Grinch Bots refers to the bots that can buy things
online before humans can. As a result of the unpleasant scenario, the U.S. senators proposed a
bill called "Stopping Grinch Bots Act of 2018". According to Automation World Magazine: 44.9% of
respondents used robots in their assembly and manufacturing facilities. 65% used industrial
robots, while 35% used collaborative robots,

History
In 1990, Japan conducted the first autonomous testing.
However, the process began in the late 1980s with the
release of the Field Management Software (FMS) for
mines, which served as the foundation for Komatsu's
autonomous platform. In 2007, Chile saw the first
commercial deployment. A year later, in 2008, another
system was installed at an iron ore mining facility in
Western Australia. Workers control autonomous mining vehicles in mines more than 1,200
kilometers away from a remote operations center in Perth, Western Australia. Finally, Komatsu
introduced the world's first completely automatic blade control dozer in 2013.

AUTONOMOUS SHIPS refers to the ships that can operate

independently. The anticipated advantages of this are the
elimination of negative environmental effects, increased
safety precautions, decreased running costs, and
potential for round-the-clock operation. Currently, various
nations are utilizing this technology in their maritime industries.

JOLLIBOT

In Aug. 1, 2022, Jollibee revealed the Jollibot or Jollibee

Robot, an actual moving robot that serves meals to
customers’ tables. Jollibot has a built-in camera and
voice recognition system that can detect and respond to
customers.

SELF-DRIVING CARS

Self-driving cars are vehicles that can navigate and function without
the assistance of a human. It detects and responds to its surroundings
using a variety of sensors that are installed on it.

ELECTRIC COAST P-1 SELF-DRIVING SHUTTLES

The autonomous or "self-driving" shuttle buses are utilized at the Southeast Asian Games in New
Clark City in Capas, Tarlac year 2019. It is a US-based mobility made by the company, Coast
Autonomous.

Characteristics:

● Can accommodate 12 to 14 passengers

● [According to Coast Autonomous CEO David Hickey], the
vehicles have sensors to avoid accidents.
● It has a series of sensors in artificial intelligence and
machine learning and robotics.
● There are 7 different kinds of techniques for the vehicle to
know where it is.
● Through sensor fusion, we can pile those different techniques and know what to operate.
● High-definition, 3D mapping machines are used for the shuttles’ route.
● It can run up to 25 miles per hour, and is electrically charged for 6 hours that could last up
to 18 hours of driving.
● There is very little maintenance, no more mechanic side because it's fully electric [said
Pier Lefevre, technology officer of Coast Autonomous].

Perks of Autonomous Technology

1. Can help expedite the transition to a low-carbon society by reducing global carbon
emissions and footprint.
2. Boost productivity, profitability, and sales.
● According to the World Economic Forum, Cann (2022) will result in a net
employment increase of 58 million by 2030. And provide improved margins by
lowering cost and increasing revenue for businesses across different sectors and
industries.
3. Makes life easier.
