My Experience Doing Community Service

(Reflection Paper)

Being able to become directly involved with children in the community makes me feel ecstatic to know how
much more of a difference I am making. I don’t want to see children struggle without a helping hand. This is
why I want to contribute as much as possible in order to keep such a thing from happening. Community
service is a way to bring everyone together to bring about a welcoming place to live. I feel at ease knowing
that volunteering teaches people understanding and compassion.

On the first day visiting Guis-Guis Talon, April 28, 2023, exactly 9 A.M I was really nervous because the first
day was to teach a child how education is important. And it was beautiful to see how they smile and learn
so fast and it helps me to connect with new people who are also making a difference. This becomes an
avenue to improve my social skills. Once my skill is mastered, it becomes easier for me to meet and
connect with new people. On the second day, during the community clean-ups at Guis-Guis Talon I realized
that it is important to have an awareness of the importance of recycling.

These experiences helped to build character and leadership, transforming me into a more patient,
responsible, and flexible person. I gained an opportunity to share my talents and positive qualities with a
younger generation so that I could spark their interest in becoming an asset to the community, and to me,
getting this opportunity is absolutely priceless. By learning to help others, I learned to appreciate myself
and my actions at a more profound level.

Although the assignment is completed, my inclination to serve others has not faded. I will still continue to
help others in the community regardless of where I go. This experience has helped me to cherish my ability
to influence and impact others in a positive way, and it helped me to look at community service as a benefit
for myself, instead of just another obligation I have to fit into my schedule.

Community service brings out attributes within me that I never realized existed, challenging me to become
more patient and caring, and encouraging me to strive towards being a better person. Finally, this
community service essay has helped me reflect on what I have learned and how this experience benefits
me.
