A Detailed Lesson Plan for Grade 10

I. Objectives
Given a series of activities, the Grade 10 students are expected to do the
following with 75% proficiency:
a. Distinguish facts from beliefs (EN10RC-IVd-2.13);
b. Differentiate facts from opinions; and
c. share ideas using opinion-marking signals.
II. Subject Matter

Subject: English 10

Topic: Fact and Opinion

III. Procedure

students read a reading text
titled “Long Ago in Egypt.” After (Students work on the activity.)

are to identify at least three
examples of fact and opinion
from the text.
The teacher will then
discuss the answers of the
students as she discusses their
new lesson which is about Fact
and Opinion, as well as the
different opinion-marking
signals.
C. Application of New
Knowledge
The teacher groups the
students into five groups for (The students perform the activity.)
the next activity. This activity is
titled, “Mister/Miss Q and A.”
The goal for this activity is to
use the different opinion-
marking signals in delivering
ideas. Each group will be given
a topic using the “Spin the
Wheel” phone application. They
will be given 3 minutes to
brainstorm and look for factual
evidences to support their
answers. After which, a
representative of the group will
share their answer to the class.
They will only be given 60
seconds to deliver their
answers. Answers will be rated
according to the following
criteria:

Use of 5 pts.

Factual 3 pts.

Relevance 4 pts.
to the topic

Diction and 3 pts.

The group with the highest


score will gain 3 points for the
next activity while the other
groups will be given 1 point.
After which, the teacher
gives a feedback to each group
and a short synthesis for the (The students write their answers on
lesson. a piece of paper.)
For the final task, the
teacher will give a pen and
paper test to the class.
D. Assignment
From a newspaper or
magazine, cut-out an article
which contains facts and
opinions. Paste it on a short
bond paper. Underline the
statements which shows fact
and opinion.
