OTP BASED REFUND

AUTHENTICATION FOR RAILWAY


E-TICKET CANCELLATION
As per the IRCTC policy to enhance better customer service . IRCTC is implementing the OTP BASED REFUND
AUTHENTICATION FOR CANCELLATION CASES for customer benefit..

So, the below processes illustrates OTP based cancellation and Refund flow.

STEP 1: Login > Rail My Bookings > Click on the reference order details to cancel as below.
Step 2: Select the passenger/(s) to be cancelled, then click Cancel Selected Passengers button.
Step 3: Selected ticket/passenger is cancelled and cancellation id will be generated. Against every
cancellation id OTP verification column is attached. Enter the OTP received on the Customer’s number
[Mobile number entered at the time of booking ] in the OTP verification text field and submit.
Step 4: Once OTP has been entered please click on submit button and the refund will be credited to
your Via travel agency account.
RESEND OTP : If in the case of OTP has not been received at the customer’s end then click on
the resend button against the cancellation Id.
IMPORTANT
1. Post cancellation, the refund amount will be credited to Via travel
agency account only after successful verification of the OTP send to the
customer’s mobile number which has been used at the time of
booking the train/rail ticket.
2. Resend OTP Option per day: Resend OTP option will restricted to 3
times in a day and can be requested for 9 times in interval of 3 days.
3. Validation of OTP: The OTP can be validated 5 times in a day and can
be validated for 15 times in interval of 3 days.
4. OTP duration: The OTP would be valid for 72 hours / 3 days from the
time of cancellation.
5. Cancellation through API/ONLINE will be successfully done irrespective
of OTP validation. OTP validation is required only to receive the refund
amount.
