SOCIO-CULTURAL AND ACADEMIC EVENTS


GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. All contestants must be Filipino citizens.

2. Socio-cultural competitions are open to all college students of PRISAA member schools who are officially
enrolled as of June of the current school year. Students who have just enrolled during the second semester of
the current school year may also be allowed to join.

3. On the age requirements:


 Senior High School Students may join in any of the events so long as they meet the age requirements
set by the National Board (born 2005 and should be at least 18 years old).
 For the college students, the age limit is 24 year old (only those who are born 1999 and up.

4. The contestants must have been declared first prize winners in the following events during the PRISAA
Local Cultural Competitions:
 Mutya ng PRISAA
 Vocal Solo and Vocal Duet
 Oratorical Competition

5. Each area must only have one (1) entry in each category and the participants must join in one (1) category
only. (No double event policy is applied)

6. The participants must not have represented the country in any international competitions. All those paid for
their services or are professional artists are disqualified from joining
(International participation means officially represented the country Philippines in the international
competitions only during his her college years. For the Senior High School, only during his Senior High School
Year)

6. Contestants must have good moral standing. They should not have been involved in any untoward incident
that would have marred their names or the good name of the Higher Education Institution they represent.

7. Participants must pass the needed requirements as set forth under the rules governing the eligibility of the
athletes/participant.

8. The coach/es of each category should come from the same school being represented.
9. The Board of Judges for the PRISAA Regional Competitions is to be provided by the Regional Organizing
Committee. The decision of the Board of Judges is final, executory and irrevocable.

11. The contestants and/or authorized representatives are prohibited from contacting any of the judges in
connection with the ratings.

12. For purposes of impartiality and objectivity, the members of the Board of Judges must not come from any
participating school with contestants in any of the categories 13. For the Vocal solo and duet categories, the
duplication of choice -pieces for the contest shall not be allowed. The selection of choice-piece shall be on the
first-come-first served basis.

14. In the case of any violations in all socio-cultural and academic events, 2-point deduction per judge per
violation from the total score of each judge shall be employed.

ORATORICAL COMPETITION
(Based from the National Guidelines)

A. General Rules and Regulations

1. The Oratorical competition is open to all bona fide college students of PRISAA member- schools only who
are officially enrolled in the schools they represent as to the current academic year.
2. Contestant must carry a minimum of 12 units, excluding NSTP (3 unites ROTC, CWTS, LTS) in a regular
semester or term and must have passed at least 60% of the total academic load enrolled in the first semester
or term of the current academic year.
3. Contestants must have good moral standing. They should not have been involved in any untoward incident
that would have marred their names or the good name of the higher education institution they represent.
4. The list of entries must be submitted to the National Organizing team at least four (4) weeks before the
National Competitions. Each participant must submit duly accomplished Official Entry Forms and
Transcript of Records
5. Coaches and/or trainers of the participants must come from the same school being represented.
6. The contestants must not have represented the country in any international oratorical nor have they won in
any previous PRISAA Oratorical competition
7. In case of a tie, the panel of judges shall determine the best possible method of evaluating contestants'
performances.
8. The Board of Judges for the PRISAA National Oratorical competition is to be provided by the National
Executive Committee
9. The contestants and/or authorized representatives are prohibited from contacting any of the judges in
connection with the ratings

B. Specific Rules

1. The speech of the contestant must be based on the theme. The theme will be determined by the PRISAA
National Board. Theme: "PRISAA: Nation’s Partner in Moulding Filipino Athletes”
2. All oratorical pieces must be original.
3. The delivery time must be between five (5) and seven (7) minutes.
4. The time of delivery will start on the first word to be uttered by the contestant.
5. There will be 2-point deduction to be employed per judge for every 15 seconds of excess time in the delivery.
In the case of under time, same rule shall be applied.
6. Contestants must memorize their contest piece.
7. Appropriate costume to identify the character may be used.
8. All speeches must be two (2) to four (4) pages long, 500 to 1000 words in length (using font Times New
Roman, font size 12).
9. All contest pieces shall be submitted to the Socio-cultural committee during the screening for the Regional
PRISAA meet.
10. Ranking System shall be employed in determining the winner.
11. All winning pieces shall become the property of the PRISAA Regional Executive Committee.

VOCAL SOLO COMPETITION

Contest Mechanics and Criteria


1. The piece must be original Pilipino Music (OPM) in Filipino.
2. The participant shall be accompanied by a minus-one CD, which may or may not have back-up singers.
The CD must contain only the minus-one audio file of the song needed for the contest. Multiplex,
however, is not allowed.
(Flash drive is also advisable)
3. Rendition must be limited to five (5) minutes only
4. Regular entertainers or those paid for their services as singers are disqualified from joining the
competition.
5. The champion shall perform as intermission number in the Search for Mr. & Ms. PRISAA Region XII
coronation night
6. The contestant must attend all rehearsals and other functions duly signed by the Regional Committee.
7. No structured props allowed during the performance. Only hand props may be considered. Flammable
props are not allowed

VOCAL DUET COMPETITION

Contest Mechanics and Criteria


1. The piece must be original Pilipino Music (OPM) in Filipino.
2. A minus-one CD must accompany the duo with no back-up singers included. The CD must contain only the
minus-one audio file of the song needed for the contest. The use of multiplex is not allowed. (Flask drive is
also advisable)

3. The duet must be composed of a male and female performer.

4. Rendition must be limited to five (5) minutes only.

5. The champion shall perform as intermission number in the Search for Mr. & Ms. PRISAA Region XII
coronation night

6. The contestants must attend all rehearsals and other functions duly signed by the Regional committee.

GINOO AT MUTYA NG PRISAA 2023

Guidelines, Mechanics and Criteria


1. He/she must be Filipino citizen, single, 16-24 years old, and at least 5' 3 inches in height for female and
5' 5 inches in height for male.
(Senior High School may join so long as he/she qualifies for the age requirements)
2. He/she must be a proficient in English and Filipino.
3. He/she must have not won any national or international title.
4. Attires includes the creative regional costume, sports attire and evening gown/formal wear
 Creative Regional costumes should represent the culture of the area/city/province within the
region. It may showcase the identity of the ethnolinguistic group, traditions, festivals, etc.
 Sports attire must only reflect the different events played for PRISAA.
 Ensure to wear appropriate sports attire based on the chosen sports event.
5. The following are the criteria for minor awards:

6. In determining the major awards, there will be a corresponding percentage to be taken from the minor
awards in all exposures. The following are:

7. Ranking system will be applied for the pageant.
 Candidates shall be ranked by category or exposure.
 Each rank will be multiplied by the percentage assigned to every exposure.
 The lower the score the higher the higher the rank. Highest rank is I.

CHORALE COMPETITION

Contest Mechanics and Criteria


1. The musical competition is open to all PRISAA member schools.
2. The group must have twenty four (24) as the maximum and fifteen (15) as the minimum number of
participants.
3. The contestants will interpret one warm up song of their choice, in any dialect (foreign or local) and one
(1) OPM Filipino as contest piece __________________________Both warm up and contest pieces will
be sung straight singing in ACAPELLA.
4. Warm up songs pieces should be submitted during the scheduled Regional Screening.
5. Warm up song shall be sung first before the official contest piece.
6. Each song is given 10 minutes to perform including the entrance and exit. The maximum total
performance is 20 minutes.
7. There will be 2-point deduction to be employed per judge for every 15 second excess in the delivery. In
the case of under time, same rule shall be applied
8. Use of props is NOT ALLOWED.
9. Attire will be at area's discretion but it should be appropriate and decent.

10. For the over-all judging, 70% is given to the contest piece and 30% is for the warm up song.

HIPHOP DANCE COMPETITION

Contest Mechanics and Criteria


1. The competition is open to all PRISAA member schools
2. Number of dancers will be minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of fifteen (15) including props men.
Participant's maybe a mix or pure male or female.
3. Using medley music is allowed. Using of foul words in music is strictly PROHIBITED.
4. Time limit: seven (7) minutes that includes entrance and exit.
5. There will be 1-point deduction to be employed per judge for every 30 seconds of excess time in the
performance.
6. Concept of performance will be at the area's discretion any kind of Hip-hop Dance genre can be used on
this competition.
7. Using of props is allowed, except those that may cause harm to the participants and audience like fire
and pyrotechnics.
8. Costume will be at area's discretion, however, suggestive and lewd attire is not advisable.
9. Using of dangerous stunts is not allowed such "double back-tuck".

FOLKDANCE COMPETITION

Contest Mechanics and Criteria


1. A participating area shall select any of the Rural Folk Dance as piece.
2. A minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of twelve (12) dancers per entry.
3. The performance shall have a minimum of five (5) minutes and maximum of nine (9) minutes
including the reading of the story, entrance and exit of dancers.
4. There will be 2-point deduction to be employed per judge for every 15 seconds of excess time in the
performance.
5. The participants must provide a ready-to-play music. Preferable softcopy or through flash drive.
6. Folk dance literature must be submitted to the committee during Regional Screening Assembly.
7. Props are allowed, but only that are stipulated in the literature and each entry should consider
SAFETY.
8. Five (5) copies of the dance literature (a zerox copy from the book) and story will be submitted
during the scheduled screening of the documents.
9. A ranking system will be used in determining the winner. In case of tie, the judges convene and
decide.
10. The criteria for judging are the following:

DANCESPORT COMPETITION

Contest Mechanics and Criteria


1. There shall be four (4) entries per area. Two (2) couples for Latin and another two (2) couples for
Modern Standard. The entry shall be a male and female.
2. The couple will perform the following
a. Latin America Dances: Cha-cha, Paso Doble, Rhumba, Samba and Jive
b. Modern Standard Dances. Tango, Slow Waltz, Quick Step, Viennese Waltz and Foxtrot

3. Appropriateness of attire is expected to all participants .4.


4. Host area will provide sets of music to be used in the competition.
5. A ranking system shall be used in determining the winner. In case of tie, the total score of all judges' will
determine the winner

The criteria for judging:

Extemporaneous Speaking Contest

1. The extemporaneous speaking contest is open to all bonafide students of PRISAA member- schools.
2. The contestant should be officially enrolled in the schools they represent as to the current academic year.
3. There should only be one contestant to represent per area.
4. Each contestant is given 3 minutes for the preparation (mental preparation only) and 3 minutes for the
delivery.
 Green light will be turned on as soon as the contestant speaks.
 Yellow light will be turned on after 2 minutes of delivery.
 Red Light will be turned on after 2 minutes and 45 seconds of the delivery.
 A buzzer will sound to signify that the 3-minute delivery time has already been consumed
by the contestant.
 At 3:05 and the contestant continues to speak, the microphone will be turned off.
 No deductions for over and undertime to be applied.

5. There will only be one common question to be asked to the contestants. The question will be provided
by the Regional PRISAA Board.

6. Ranking system will be used to determine the winner.
