Houses, schools, churches, and
malls are examples of buildings.
They each have their own
purpose. People who design and
create buildings are called
architects.
They studied
architecture, which is
the planning and
creating of buildings.
Humans have also used many different materials-like wood,
stone, and metal-to make the buildings strong and
attractive. Architects are needed because they are tasked to
plan and create something that is both useful and pleasing to
the eye.
They start their work by sketching a design of the building.
They draw lines and form shapes. For the structure to remain
strong, the architect applies balance.
