Curriculum Planning and Development

1. Waldorf Curriculum is a type of education where students learning process is engaging

heart, head and hands. They involve thinking and using senses in learning. They are
using integrated academics, arts and practical skills. Waldorf’s uses child’s fantasy and
imagination unlike Montessori uses real like experiences. Waldorf’s curriculum also
focuses on development of social skills and ethical values of students.

2. Walordf Philosophy emphasizes “child- centered” where they focuses on child’s interest
and learning needs like in academic, arts and practical skills to increase their motivation.
Child must be educated in mind, body and soul, and that child must educated physically,
mentally and spiritually.

3. Curriculum of Philippine Republic is a Compulsory core subjects in both Elementary and

Secondary schools include languages, Mathematics, Sciences, ICT, Physical Education
and the Arts. However, in Grades 7 and 8, Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE)
subjects are also introduced. This curriculum’s teaching techniques are subject-matter-
centered, student-centered and community -life- centered. They introduced here the
Vocational Education as part of education program where they established vocational
schools and the use of media. Teaching students to learn and unlearn for them to decide
for themselves what they really want to be and in what field of work they can use the
skills that they have.

New Society Education emphasize on moral values, relevance, proper methods of

teaching, retraining of teacher, bilingualism, vocational and technical education, national
consciousness and cultural values. New Society focused on accessible stories
addressing issues of social concern. It ran regular features on 'Work and Business', 'The
Arts in Society', and 'Welfare and Policy'. The main purpose of education is to provide
the opportunity for acquiring knowledge and skills that will enable people to develop their
full potential, and become successful members of society.
Assessment and Recordings

1. A. Work Samples and Portfolios are very important to know the progress of every child’s
learning. We gathered or compiled here every student’s work including quizzes,
worksheets, projects and quarterly examinations where it serves as proof that the
students are complying with your subject’s requirements and they are getting the grades
that they deserve.
B. Self-evaluation the ability to examine yourself to find out how much progress you
have made. It requires individual to monitor their own abilities and evaluate strengths
and weaknesses. It is a process by which teachers or students reflect on their practice
and identify areas for action to stimulate improvement in the areas of learning.
Evaluation is important to know which aspect or what skills of every individual needs to
improve or develop.
C. Formal/Psychological/Standardized tests are often used to select students for specific
programs. This is to identify learning differences among students or to inform
instructional planning. It is also serves as assessment in the early childhood education
Assessment to support learning,
Assessment for identification of special needs,
Assessment for program evaluation and monitoring trends, and
Assessment for school accountability.
2. Childhood assessment is the evaluation of child’s skills and abilities wherein educators
gathered informations about the child. Using gathered information educators learn about
children and they can give the proper ways to support the learning and development of
every child. Knowing child’s history is very important so that educators become aware of
child's strengths and weaknesses. Where are the areas of their learning and
development in which they may require further support and nurturing. Through
assessment educators can identify what learning techniques and strategies are best for
every students especially for those students who have learning difficulties and mentally
challenged so that they can give the appropriate teaching for the child.

3. Assessment is very important because it determines whether or not the goals of

education are being met. Assessment affects decisions about grades,
placement, advancement, instructional needs, curriculum, and, in some cases,
funding. Assessment inspire us to ask these hard questions: "Are we teaching
what we think we are teaching?" "Are students learning what they are
supposed to be learning?" "Is there a way to teach the subject better, thereby
promoting better learning?" Assessment is important in monitoring child’s
learning development. It helps educators to know whether the child’s absorbs
what is he/she teaching and if the child is improving or not.
