A. CONTENT STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding of recreation in


optimizing one’s health as a habit; as requisite for physical activity assessment
performance, and as a career opportunity.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
The Learner leads recreational events with proficiency and confidence resulting in
independent pursuit and in influencing others positively.
C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES:
 Discusses the nature of different recreational activities, (PEH12FH-IIa-20)
 Describes the role of physical activity assessments in managing one’s stress (PEH12FH-
IIf-5)
 Explain the benefits derived from participating in Aquatics (swimming) activities.

I. OBJECTIVES At the end of a 60-minute online class, 90% of the students are expected to:
1. Define aquatics and swimming.
2. Identify the different variations of water activities in aquatics.
3. Participate on quiz relay as an activity;
4. Values the importance and benefits of aquatics and swimming activities for health,
enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.

championship meet held at the
American Columbian Club
swimming pool
 In 1912, Filipinos participated in
the 2nd championship meet. Of
the 42 individuals, the late
Conrado Benitez emerged as the
most outstanding Filipino
swimmers.

 In 1913 Philippine team won


against China and Japan in the Far
Eastern Games held in Manila, the
team composed of Conrado
Benitez, J. del Pan, C. Aiville and
L. Cristobal
 In 1924, Teofilo Yldefonso, a
Philippine scout soldier of US
Army won recognition as the
Greatest Filipino Swimmer for his
feasts in national meets in the Far
East and Olympic Games.
 Women Swimmers competed in
the 1931 National Women’s
Swimming Championship meet at
the Rizal Memorial pool where
the University of the Philippines
won.
 Swimming competition were
suspended during the Japanese
Occupation
 It was in 1948 when the
swimming competition were
resumed.
 The 1st Asian Games held in New
Delhi in 1951.
 The 2nd Asian Games were held
in Manila in 1954.
 The 3rd Asian Games held in
Tokyo in 1958.
 The 4th Asian Games held in
Jakarta, Indonesia in 1962.
