This research has scope on Explicit Grammar Instruction and Students´ English Learning at
Bilingual Schools In Nacaome Valle, 2019

3.1.1 Research Design

The method used is the qualitative because it focuses on comprehend and

understand the phenomenon from the perspective of the participants, because those are
who live the phenomenon in their jobs, schools, etc. As Mason said in 2013:

Through qualitative research we can explore a wide array of dimensions of the social
world, including the texture and weave of everyday life, the understandings,
experiences and imaginings of our research participants, the ways that social processes,
institutions, discourses or relationships work, and the significance of the meanings that
they generate. (p.11)

The researcher employed a phenomenological research design to achieve the objectives

of this study based on the literature review. Also it is phenomenological because it is focuses on
events and experiences of people. “The purpose of the phenomenological approach is to
illuminate the specific, to identify phenomena through how they are perceived by the actors in a
situation”. (Lester, n.d, p.1).

3.5 Data collection techniques

Data collection is a technique that gathers and measures information in an accurate way.
It is a good way of collecting all information you need and discarding all the
unnecessary information that might not do any contribution to the information you are
searching for.

3.6 The techniques used for the data collection

The Interview: Interviews are primarily done in qualitative research and

occur when researchers ask one or more participants general, open-ended questions and

record their answers. Often audiotapes are utilized to allow for more consistent

transcription (Creswell, 2012).

The Observation Guide: Provides contextual information to frame the

evaluation and make sense of the data collected using other method. In addition,

observation may enable you to see thing that are taken for granted by participant in the

learning and teaching context, in which the researchers observe the problems or

advantages in the process of learning English .
