5 A. PRELIMINARIES
minutes
1. Greetings
“Good morning, class!” “Good morning, Ma’am!”

2. Prayer
“Let us all stand and seek the guidance of our “Through Christ our Lord,
God Almighty.” Amen…” PowerPoint
Presentation
3. Considering the orderliness of the
classroom setting

“Before you take your seats, kindly everyone (The students will pick-up
picks up the pieces of trash around you and the pieces of trash and
arrange your chairs properly.” arrange their chairs
properly.)
4. Checking of Attendance
“Ms. Secretary, are there any absentees for
today?”
Secretary: “None,
Ma’am.”
5 B. ELICIT
minutes “To give you an idea of what we will tackle this
morning, let’s have an activity.”

Instruction: I will group you through a game PowerPoint

called "The Boat is Sinking”, and each group will Presentation,
choose who will be their recorder, doer, and Activity Sheets
presenter. Your task is to arrange the jumbled
letters to form a word. The first group that
finishes the game will be given additional points.
An allotted time of 5 minutes will be given to
you.

“Are the instructions clear class? “Yes ma’am”

“Your time starts now”.

1. SURESREP PRESSURE
2. SASM MASS
3. MEULOV VOLUME
4. RETUAREPMET TEMPERATURE

“The winner of the game is group(group number)

“Good job everyone!”

“Let’s give ourselves a round of applause” “Yeheeeeey..!

“Now, let’s try to expand your knowledge and

observations.”
5 C. ENGAGE
minutes With the same group, you need to explain the
words you arranged according to your own
understanding. After that, the representative of
each group will share their ideas in front of the
class. I will give you 5 minutes to finish this task.
Strictly no searching.

“Are the instruction clear class? Yes, Ma’am! Activity Sheet

“You may now start your activity”

"Time is up, class!"

"The representative of each group, please go in

front and present your ideas."

"Let’s start with group 1, followed by group 2, (The students will present
and so on and so forth." their works)

"Good job, class. Let’s give ourselves a round of

applause." (Clap)

"Very good!" So I think you are all ready to start

our lesson properly."
10 D. EXPLORE
minutes
“Base from our activity class, can you guess our
lesson for today?” “Properties of Gases”

 What do you think makes that balloon Because of helium ma’am.

float?

“Very good!

 Now, do you think balloons burst when

exposed to high temperatures? “Yes ma’am!

 Why? If the balloon keeps

getting hotter, it will
eventually pop, ma’am.

“Very good! Because the molecules of the

balloon get hyperactive when the temperature
increases, and the same with pressure. That is
when the balloon pops right away.

"To understand further about our topic, let’s dig

into the "Properties of Gases."

“Are you ready class?” “Yes ma’am

20 E. EXPLAIN
minutes
"Before we proceed to our lesson, what is a gas a substance or matter in a
first?" anyone?" state in which it will
expand freely to fill the
whole of a container,
having no fixed shape
(unlike a solid) and no
fixed volume (unlike a
liquid).
“Correct!”

A gas is a substance that has no fixed size or

shape. When inside a closed container, a gas will
expand to fill the container.

“So here, we have the Properties of Gases which

are;
1. Mass – it is the amount of gas. The SI unit
of mass is the kilogram (kg).
"We all know that mass is one of the common
properties of matter. Can you give me an
example of matter that has mass? (The students will give an
example.)
“Correct!”
“Now, let’s proceed to volume. Who wants to Ma’am!
read?

2. Volume - A gas expands uniformly to fill

any container in which it is placed. This
means that the volume of a gas is the
volume of its container. The symbol of PowerPoint
volume is V. Presentation,
“Simply, it is the amount of space of container Flowchart
occupied by the gases.”

“And here are the units and equivalents of

volume”

1mL= 1cm3 1L= 1dm3 1m3 =1000L

“How about temperature? Any idea about (expected answer of

temperature? students)

3. Temperature - is the measure of the hotness

or coldness of an object. The symbol of
volume is T.
“Can you give me an example of things that (The students will give an
provide temperature?” example.)

“And here are the units and equivalents of

temperature: ”

00C = 273.15 K 00C = 320F

“Last is pressure”.
4. Pressure - is the average effect of the forces
of the colliding molecules. The symbol of
volume is P. And here are the units and
their equivalents for pressure:
PowerPoint
1atm = 760mm Hg = 76cm Hg = 760torr = Presentation,
101325Pa = 14.6956psi Flowchart,

“Understood class?” Yes, ma’am

“Now, this is the list of most common used units

for volume and pressure”

Variable SI Unit Metric Unit English

Unit
Volume cubic liter (L) quart
meter milliliter(mL) (qt)
(m3) gallon
cubic (gal)
decimeter
(dm3)
cubic
centimeter
(cm3)
Pressure Pascal atmosphere torr
(Pa) (atm) lb/in2
millimeters (psi)
of mercury
(mm Hg)
centimeters
of mercury
(cm Hg)

“Any question class?” None ma’am!

“Can you follow?” Yes, ma’am! PowerPoint

Presentation,
“Alright, since you don’t have question, let me Flowchart,
ask you:

“And what is the relationship between volume Decreasing the volume of

and pressure?” a contained gas will
increase its pressure, and
increasing its volume will
decrease its pressure.
“Correct. Why? Example we have inflator here.
When you pull up and then push down the pump,
the first half of the inflator is soft or you pushed
it easily, why? Because the bigger the volume of
a gas, the lesser the pressure you need to exert.
Vice versa when you reach the 2nd half of the
inflator.

“What is the relationship between temperature As the temperature of a

and pressure? gas increases, the pressure
it exerts on its container
will also increase.

“What is the relationship between temperature The volume increases as

and volume? the temperature increases
and decreases as the
temperature decreases.

“Understood?” Yes, ma’am

“Any question class?” None, ma’am.

“Very good! So I think you are all ready to

answer the questions for our summarization”

“To assess your understanding about the topic

let’s answer some questions”

“Are you ready class?” Yes, ma’am

5 F. ELABORATE
minutes To summarize the discussion, let’s have a game.

Instructions: I prepared a ball of questions here;

you just need to pass it through your classmates,
and when the music stops, the last person who
touches the ball will answer the question. If the
student's answer is wrong, they will dance.

“Are the instructions clear class? Any questions,

clarification, violent reaction?” None, Ma’am!

Questions:
1. What is gas? A gas is a substance that
has no fixed size or shape.

2. What is the relationship of volume and The volume increases as
