    This document describes an experiment to study pulse position modulation (PPM) using a DC input signal. The circuit is connected as shown in the block diagram. When the power supply and oscilloscope are switched on, the output of the PPM block is observed at TP7. Varying the DC output results in a shift in the position of the pulses. An external low frequency sine wave can also be connected to observe the shifting phenomenon. The amplitude of the sine wave is varied to observe its effect on the PPM output. Faults 1, 2, and 6 are individually introduced to observe their effects and locate them.

    Aim : Study of PPM using DC Input
    Equipment :
    Scientech 2110 with Power Supply cord
    Scientech Oscilloscope with connecting probe
     Connecting cords
    Connection Block Diagram:

    Procedure:
     Connect the circuit as shown in next figure and also described below for clarity.
    •Connect the DC output to input of PPM block.1
    Switch ‘On’ the Power Supply & Oscilloscope.
     Observe the output of PPM block at TP7.
     Vary the DC output while observing the output of PPM block. You will observe a shift
    in position on the pulses for awhile during DC voltage variation
     You can also connect an external lower frequency signal (Sine wave; 3Hz to 10 Hz;
    3Vpp amplitude) to observe the shifting phenomenon in PPM signal.
     Switch ‘Off’ the Power Supply.

     Vary the amplitude of sine wave and observe the pulse position modulation.
     Switch ‘On’ fault No. 1, 2, & 6 one by one & observe their effects in pulse position
    modulation output and try to locate them.
     Switch ‘Off’ the Power Supply.
