I. Objectives:
A. Concepts: Harmful material can be solid, liquid and gas. Some materials may cause fire
hazard, toxic or poisonous may cause burn or react dangerously when combined with other
materials. Reading the product label is very important to identify if is harmful or not. They warn
possible dangers.

B. Motivation
The teacher will recall the previous lesson. Properties of matter solid, liquid and gas.
C. Activity
Present a picture of harmful materials found at home like the pictures below.
Call some pupils to group the materials found in bathroom, kitchen and storage room. Paste them in the
proper column. Fill out the table below.
Ask: What are the materials that can be found in the bathroom, kitchen, storage room?
Why these materials should be kept in proper places? (because they are harmful)
D. Analysis
Brainstorm the word harmful. (Destructive, Damaging, Injurious, Dangerous) Think of a word synonym
to the word harmful, then write it at the end of each arrow as many as you can.

E. Abstraction
The teacher will discuss the topic about importance of determining the useful and harmful materials,
warning symbols used for harmful materials and interpreting product labels.
F. Application
Direction: Draw the warning symbols and label it with their names.
IV. Assessment:
Using the table below, cut the picture and paste it in the table to where it belongs.
V. Assignment :
Write on your notebook five (5) useful materials but harmful when not properly use.
