V. HOW FAR HAVE WE GONE?

Have a research about your municipality/city fault map. Take a picture or screenshots of
the fault map and paste it on a clean paper. a. Write your realizations in 3-5 sentences to
how faults within an area indicate that rocks undergo stress and what is its importance in
the study of earthquakes.

๑ Indication that rocks undergo stress within a zone is that the direction of faults in tectonic
plates determine what type of stress had occurred in that zone. Studying stress caused by
previous earthquakes provides information as to why and where they occured. In addition to
this, it also helps in saving lives, reducing possible losses and damages by analyzing its causes
and predict when and where they are likely to happen and trace the location of active faults .
Preparation for earthquake such as creating or building quake-resistant structures and
materials, learning the safe area, planning and practicing what to do if an earthquake occur are
the great things we can do to respond and assess this ineluctable and calamitous phenomena.
