Q1. What is Diet?

Ans. Diet is the part of food contains proteins, Vitamins, Carbohydrates and minerals at a
proportionate level. According the physical activities or daily routine of child a nanny will plan
out the diet chart of a child.

Q2. What is food?

Ans. To balance the energy level of body we need food. It is in solid as well as liquid form.
Food is kind of diet in solid and liquid form which in carbohydrates vitamins and proteins. We
take food in the form of diet as daily intake to run our body function smoothly.

Q3. What are the functions of food?

Ans. It gives the energy.

 It keeps the body temperature balance.

 It protects from diseases.

 It helps in the metabolic activities of the body.

Q4. How we can classified the food according to its function?

Ans. 1) Energy producing foods.

2) Body building

3) protecting foods.

1) Energy Producing Foods :- These types of food rich in fats and carbohydrates (Wheat,
rice, Beans, Cereal) They supply heat and energy to the body.

2) Body Building Foods :- These are protein rich food which also produce energy at some
extent. As intake in our food should be less example : Meat, egg, nuts, fish, Milk, Cheese
etc.

3) Protecting Foods :- Which are rich in Vitamins and minerals examples :- fruits,
vegetables, leafs etc.
Q5. Define balanced diet? What is the importance of balanced diet?

Ans. Proper combination of proteins, carbohydrates and vitamins in the food called balanced
diet

Importance :-

- It recharge us for the whole day’s activities.


- It keep us healthy
- It protect us from diseases.

Q6. What is Nutrients?

Ans. Nutrients are the substances like

- Proteins
- Carbohydrates
- Water
- Fat
- Minerals
- Roughage
- Vitamins

are contained in our diet is called nutrient.

Q7. What is food Allergies?

Ans. It is immune reaction that occurs after eating certain food.

Ans. A, B, C, D, K, E

Q9. What are Vitamins?

Ans. Vitamins are relatively simple organic compound. Synthesized mostly by plants and
certain in intestional bacteria. The Vitamins are not gernally stored in our body. These useless
excess is readily excerted out by urine. That is why there regular supply to the body by food is
essential. Vitamins are of two types.

B2 -> (Riboflavin) -> Cheilasis

B3 -> (Niacin) -> Pellagra (related to teeth)

B5 -> (Pantothemic acid) -> Dermatitis

B6 -> (Pyridoxine) -> Anaemia

B12 -> (Cyanocobalamine) -> Pernicious, Anaemia

Vitamin -> H (Biotene) -> Loss of Applpite
