Understanding multicultural Ireland

Dublin South City Partnership invites you to a series of workshops exploring cultural norms,
attitudes towards diversity and the practices of intercultural integration in Ireland.
These workshops are open to both migrant and Irish participants.
The workshops will take place in Rathmines, Dublin 6 and will be delivered in English language by
practitioners working in the field of community and migrant integration.

Tuesday 30th May, 6.30pm-8.30pm: Cultural identity and markers of integration.


Norms, behaviours and customs of the Irish society.
Cultural diversity and attitudes towards integration.

Tuesday 6th June, 6.30-8.30pm: Irish society and economic equality.


The effects of living in multiple socio-economic realities on relationships between
locals and migrants.

Tuesday 13th June, 6.30pm-8.30pm: Migrant mental health.


Overcoming emotional challenges, loneliness and isolation.
Managing expectations, building networks of support and a happy life.

Tuesday 20th June, 6.30pm-8.30pm: Building a career in Ireland.


Navigating Irish Labour Market: weight of foreign / Irish qualification, transferable
skills and experience, role of work references and workplace etiquette.

Tuesday 27th June, 6.30pm-8.30pm: Irish English.


Language, culture and communication: meaning behind the words, Irish slang,
accents and regional differences.

Tuesday 4th July, 6.30pm-8.30pm: Global society and migration.


Understanding the causes, types and the process of migration.
