 PREFACE

First of all, thanks to Allah SWT because of the help of Allah, writer finished writing the
paper entitled “Narrative Text” right in the calculated time.

The purpose in writing this paper is to fulfill the assignment that given by Mr.
Ardiansyah as a Teacher in the English department.

In arranging this paper, the writer trully get lots challenges and obstructions but with help
of many indiviuals, those obstructions could passed. writer also realized there are still many
mistakes in process of writing this paper.

Because of that, the writer says thank you to all individuals who helps in the process of
writing this paper. hopefully allah replies all helps and bless you all.the writer realized tha this
paper still imperfect in arrangment and the content. then the writer hope the criticism from the
readers can help the writer in perfecting the next paper.last but not the least Hopefully, this paper

A long time ago in a wilderness, there was a kingdom called Pamuncak Tiga Kaum. The kingdom
was ruled by 3 brothers, Pamuncak Rencong Talang, Pamuncak Tanjung Seri, and Pamuncak Koto Tapus.

Once upon a time, the harvest of the people in Pamuncak Rencong Talang's territory was
abundant. Pamuncak Rencong Talang intended to hold a harvest party by inviting all his relatives and
family members.

Because Pamuncak Tanjung Seri could not attend, he sent his wife and two children. Long story
short, they arrived in the land of Pamuncak Rencong Talang. The day of the banquet and harvest party
had arrived and would be held for 3 days and 3 nights. On the third night, there was a virgin from
Pamuncak Tanjung Seri who became the target of the young men.

It is said that the party was going on very lively. Before you knew it, the rooster had crowed
many times. It was really late and finally the girl's mother invited her daughter to go home. However,
the girl still ignored her mother's call.

A young man nearby asked the girl, "who is the old woman who called her?". Hearing the
question, the girl replied, "Oo... that woman is my maid."

The mother was hurt to hear that. The next day, they went home. It is said that when the group
arrived at the area between Pulau Sangkar and Lolo, which was full of swamps and mud. Pamuncak
Tanjung Sari's mother prayed to God that her disobedient son would be swallowed by the muddy
swamp. Apparently the prayer was answered by the Almighty God.

Suddenly, the virgin girl was entangled by the muddy swamp, so that she was immersed deeper
and deeper. She cried and asked for help from her mother and some of her bodyguards. However, her
mother ignored her.

"I'm not your mother, I'm just your helper." The mother opened her voice. The girl continued to
wail as she said, "Please....., help me mom. I will not disobey you again. Please forgive me, mom."

The mother did not listen to her daughter's apology. Instead, she took the Jambi bracelet and
shawl that her son was wearing. After she took the two items, the girl drowned in front of her own
mother. After the incident, the land was named by the people as Lempur which comes from the word
Lumpur.
