Fortune Teller

I believe in fate. In other words, I think someone can see our future which has
already written like a scenario. I know that to most people it sounds stupid and it
makes them uncomfortable, because everyone has specific belief in their life like
different religions. I also thought it’s stupid. Actually, I’m a person who believes
only things that I can see, touch, smell, and understand. That’s why I was always
cynical on religious matters or supernatural things, before I met the mysterious
fortune teller.

About two years ago, when I was in Korea, I went to the fortune-teller’s house with
my mother. In my country, there are all kinds of fortune tellers and most people
enjoy seeing their futures through fortune teller’s eye. To young people who like
simple tarot cards, it’s just for fun. However, to old people who visit elderly fortune-
teller in remote village, it’s really serious.

The fortune teller’s room was very small. Actually, her house has made with woods
and straws, so it was creaky and cold. Furthermore, the room was filled with
incense smoke which has very strong scent. I was totally unhappy, because
spending lots of money and time to meet her doesn’t make any sense.

When my mother gave a list of name, date of birth and a picture of my family, the
old grandmother told us that we will live abroad and everyone will healthy in the
near future. Unfortunately, she didn’t say my family will make lots of money which
my mother wanted to hear. Two predictions and that was it. The fortune teller
kicked us out. It was so funny and stupid until I hear the news that my father has
appointed as D.C. correspondent all of a sudden. My family came to the States
without even having a month to prepare. I was shocked because the old fortune-
teller, who was isolated from the society and technology, predicted the exact future
of our family.

Now, I believe in fortune-teller and fate. Of course, I don’t expect people to believe
the same things I believe. However, after I met the fortune-teller, I think there’s
nothing I can deny for sure. Even though those things can’t ever be proved
scientifically, I can strongly say that it’s worth a try. Who knows? Fortune-teller can
save your life or give you very important tips.
