The poem professes love and admiration for the subject using flowery language like comparing their hair to golden leaves and skin to bronzed gold. However, the response dismisses and mocks the comparisons, noting that leaves fall off and skin is not actually gold. It also rejects the notion that their love is once in a lifetime, suggesting the admirer is a hopeless romantic. The response has no interest in oceans or emeralds and sees the admirer more as a joke for challenging Goliath.

You’re the Perfect One. Boy, Go Away! You’re Done!
by. F. Harden Sr. 2023
Your hair floats like golden leaves in the Autumn breeze.
I will love you as long as leaves are on trees Your ruby red lips are sun-kissed by the sun The moment I saw you, I knew you were the one
Are you for real? Hair like leaves?
Leaves that are dead and fall off the trees? Even ruby lips grow chapped by the sun. You’re a hopeless romantic if you think I’m The One!
Your bronzed skin, in the sun, shines golden
When I look in your eyes my heart’s stolen Your voice is like music to my ears Love like this doesn't come ‘round every year
My skin’s not bronzed, nor is it gold
If that's what you see, then your eyes are covered with mold If you’re hearing “Irreplaceable” by Beyonce’ Change the station; that's not our song now or any day
I’ll love you like the cool ocean breeze
Your best interest will always be Like an emerald - a precious jewel To have you I'd challenge Goliath to a duel.
The ocean and all its sand isn’t my favorite place
The only thing that interests me is you - in outer space. You compare me to an emerald, but more like a diamond called hope Challenge Goliath? That’s funny! You’re really such a dope!
