ABSTRACT

Air freshener nowadays really helps in removing bad odors to make sure a specific room

always smells fresh and clean. Scented candle is the product chosen to be able to make the said air

freshener. This study focuses on to create a lovely mood, make a place fragrant, and make it more

relaxing.

We all know that Eucalyptus leaves is used as a therapeutic herbal tea that can cure

respiratory diseases. That’s why the researchers choose this plant as one of their subjects in this

study, because the scent of it can also help the people to relax. Mango really has many benefits

and one of it is its smell. It has a sweet smell that is also helping to reduce unpleasant odor in some

room, that is why the researchers also choose this as their subject in this study. Eucalyptus and

mango leaves extract really have a great combination; the scent of the plants really suits together.

To determine the result, the researchers started at gathering the information needed that

happened at Brgy. Wawa, Pililla, Rizal using a survey questionnaire. After gathering the

information, the researchers proceed in analyzing and interpreting the data by using frequency,

percentage, rank, and weighted mean. Overall, the level of the acceptability of Eucalyptus

(Eucalyptus globulus labill) and Mango (Mangifera domestica) leaves extract as a Scented Candle

for use as an Alternative Air Freshener in terms of Appearance, Scent, and Usefulness are verbally

interpreted as very much accepted.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM

Air Fresheners are famous at this time, we can see them anywhere, but it was expensive

that is why the researcher thought to make an alternative Air Freshener using Eucalyptus and

Mango leaves extract.

Eucalyptus has a relaxing menthol smell that can help us to sleep or to relieve our stress in

some things. It also has many benefits like reduce our pain, treat our dry skin, keep our teeth

healthy, it can also act as a natural insect repellent, and it is high in antioxidants. as per Dr. Anita

Dhanorkar, BHMS and Pallavi Suyog Uttekar, MD, there are very nearly 900 types of Eucalyptus

around the world. Around 300 types of this variety contain unstable oils in their leaves. The

principal constituent of the unpredictable oil got from new leaves of eucalyptus is 1,8-cineole. This

synthetic is answerable for its sharp smell and therapeutic properties. Eucalyptus oil is

comprehensively utilized in medications, businesses, and scents.

We all know that Mango is a fruit, and it has many benefits, but the leaves is really

something to have, it has a sweet smell. Specialty Produce expressed that although they are

frequently disposed of, they have been utilized in home grown drugs. They might be utilized crude

or cooked, however are most frequently viewed as dried as a powder, to be utilized as a tea for

general medical advantages. Mango leaves contain tannins, cancer prevention agents, flavonoids

and vitamin A, vitamin B, and L-ascorbic acid. They contain phenolic intensifies that might assist

with directing diabetes and lower pulse. They have been displayed to have solid enemy of

contagious, calming and cancer prevention agent benefits.

Using the relaxing menthol smell of the Eucalyptus and the sweet smell of the Mango

leaves we’ll create a new flavor of Air Freshener that will suit in every home and event workplace.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

This study was based on the theory of Aromatherapy by René-Maurice Gattefossé. In 1907,

René-Maurice met the lavender producers of Haute-Provence because essential lavender oil is an

essential component for perfumery. In July 1910, René- Maurice Gattefossé discovered the healing

properties of lavender oil after severely burning his hands in a laboratory explosion. This led him

into a lifetime of research into Essential Oils.

Aromatherapy is a branch of phytotherapy that uses the volatile active ingredients of

aromatic plants. These are plants that can synthesize an essence thanks to sunlight and

photosynthesis. This science focusses on the use of essential oils for therapeutic, curative, or

preventive purposes. For the most part, the essential oils are extracted by steam distillation of part

of the plant (such as the leaves, flowers, or bark. “The word ‘aromatherapy’ was coined in 1935

by René-Maurice Gattefossé, a chemist from Lyon, who conducted many rewarding personal and

scientific experiments on essential oils. Other scientists, such as Charles Chamberland, a biologist

and assistant to Louis Pasteur, had already investigated their spectacular antimicrobial action.

This study was supported by Dr. Amira Ahmed Kamal El-din El-Anssary study about the

use of essential oils in aromatherapy, she is a renowned pharmacognosist and has the highest

degree of Ph. D. in Pharmacognosy from Cairo University, Egypt which states that essentials

oils/plant extracts are great source to create a product that is ideal for aromatherapy. Same study

was made by Aromatherapy Journal Spring in 2013 stating that the real beauty of aromatherapy is

that the essences work on a cellular and physical level, and in emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and

aesthetic areas of your life.

EUCALYPTUS

According to Dr. Dhanakar (2021), the fundamental constituent of the unstable oil got

from new leaves of eucalyptus is 1,8-cineole. This substance is answerable for its impactful scent

and therapeutic properties. The oils created are extensively utilized in prescriptions, ventures, and

aromas. Around 300 types of this class contain unpredictable oils in their leaves.

Eucalyptus oil helps in the expedient recuperation of the feeling of smell in individuals

with dyssomnia. It calms the excruciating joints and assuages the aggravation when applied

straightforwardly. Studies have been led to gauge the impact of medicinal balms on restless

individuals going through a medical procedure.

As indicated by Davidson, K., stated (2019), Eucalyptus is an evergreen tree that is

generally utilized for its restorative properties. Albeit local to Australia, this well-known tree

currently fills in numerous regions of the world. It has a gum-implanted bark, long stems, and

roundabout leaves that are difficult to process whenever eaten entirety. In any case, eucalyptus

leaves can be made into a tea that is ok for utilization. Furthermore, the leaves can be made into

rejuvenating balm for effective use or inward breath.

As reported by Gaur, A. et. Al., (2021), Eucalyptus, (class Eucalyptus), enormous variety

of more than 660 types of bushes and tall trees of the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), local to Australia,

Tasmania, and close by islands. In Australia the eucalypti are generally known as gum trees or

stringybark trees. Numerous species are developed broadly all through the mild districts of the

world as overhanging trees or in ranger service manors. Monetarily, eucalyptus trees establish one

of the most significant gatherings inside the request Myrtales.

In agreement with Parul, et. Al., (2021), Eucalyptus plant is a significant wellspring of the

color, tannin, and protein. Isoprenoids (an unstable phytochemical) are available in the leaves part

of the eucalyptus plant. This isoprenoid having the restorative property. From the leaves of this

plant different item like flavonoid, alkaloid, saponins and tannins are separated (Kaur et al., 2018).

One of the dynamic constituents of eucalyptus oil named 1,8-cineole along with it found to show

the muscle unwinding by diminishing the muscle compression (Asif et al., 2020). Eucalyptus oil

has been a noticeable specialist against respiratory sickness like asthma and bronchitis.

MANGO

As indicated by Deependra Yadav and SP Singh, Mango is the main natural product crop

in India. Since ages, mango tree has been portrayed as Kalpavriksha (wish giving tree). It is known

as the lord of foods grown from the ground the choicest natural product in India and abroad. Its

extensive stretch of taming in India is all around confirmed from its notice in old sacred texts.

Mango is a vital part of social legacy of India. Today the mango tree and its organic product stay

significant Indian strict and social images. The mango is personally connected with the historical

backdrop of agribusiness and civilization in India. Ayurvedic and a few antiquated texts perceive

ready mango as Spanish fly and enhancer of essentialness and endurance. Since the Ancient time

it has an incredible social, financial, and strict importance in India.

As stated by Haredy, H. H., (2018), Mango is the main natural product crop in India. Since

ages, mango tree has been depicted as Kalpavriksha (wish conceding tree). It is known as the ruler

of products of the soil the choicest natural product in India and abroad. Its extensive stretch of

taming in India is all around confirmed from its notice in antiquated sacred writings. Mango is an

integral part of social legacy of India. Today the mango tree and its natural product stay significant

Indian strict and social images. The mango is personally connected with the historical backdrop of

farming and development in India. Ayurvedic and a few antiquated texts perceive ready mango as

Spanish fly and enhancer of imperativeness and endurance. Since the Ancient time it has an

extraordinary social, financial, and strict importance in India. It is known in India from old times,

as is clear from its reference in the early Sanskrit texts as Aamra, choot and rasaal.

As reported by Ndoye, F. S., et. Al., (March 21, 2018), Mangifera indica (M. indica) L.

(Anacardiaceae) is a huge tree local from tropical Asia. Its leaves are spirally organized on

branches and its natural product is a well-known consumable drupe that contains a single seed

covered by a sinewy endocarp. Of interest, organic products, seeds, mash, bark, leaves, and roots

are broadly utilized as customary prescriptions. The compound synthesis of M. indica has been

broadly explored over the past and various terpenoid constituents have been accounted for

including sterols, triterpenes, and carotenoids. Moreover, phytochemical examinations of this

species have prompted the portrayal of a wide variety of phenolic parts including flavonoids,

phenolic acids, Gallo tannins, benzophenones as well as xanthones, for example, mangiferin.

AIR FRESHENER

In agreement with Ahmed, H., et. Al., (November 2019), Air Fresheners contain different

synthetics that could possibly be destructive to human wellbeing and the climate. These items are

broadly utilized in various settings like homes, schools, workplaces, and emergency clinics with

obliviousness of their genuine fixings and their general wellbeing impacts. Accordingly, this

primer review was done to recognize the presence of various mixtures in splash deodorizers that

were not uncovered on the item’s mark. Four unique brands of shower deodorizers were chosen

haphazardly from a neighborhood store, in which two were of mid-to-significant expense and the

excess two of minimal expense. The examples were dissected utilizing gas chromatography/mass

spectrometry headspace, in which single parts of the examples were distinguished by the mass

spectrometry identifier. The outcomes were displayed as a chromatogram of a few pinnacles, each

addressing various mixtures.

The foreign literature we have gathered provided us with a lot of insights that helped us

develop our product. The enunciated foreign literature contains facts such as the Eucalyptus oil

from the fresh leaves of the Eucalyptus tree containing 1,8-cineole. This substance is favorable for

its strong scent and properties that can be used as an essence for the air freshener we experimented
STI COLLEGES

13
with. For instance, eucalyptus oil collected is commonly used in medicine, cosmetics, and

aromatherapy. That conveys eucalyptus oil has effectively treated respiratory illnesses such as

asthma and bronchitis. Individuals suffering from dyssomnia can benefit from the oil extracted

from fresh eucalyptus leaves since it induces a sense of smell, which can aid in their rapid recovery.

Lastly, the literature cited above stated that the water mixture from mango is used in traditional

African medicine. That proposes that the anti-plasmodial and antipyretic properties of M. indica

leaves can also be used for our product because this plant has indeed been linked to various organic

effects, including antidiarrheal immunomodulatory, antibacterial, antiviral, and mitigating impact.

That merely alludes that the scent of mango oil is safe to inhale. While the review presumes that

the air fresheners from different brands include synthetics that may cause irritation and other

medical issues, we can guarantee that our product is safe. Because it contains natural oils extracted

from fresh oils of Eucalyptus and Mango leaves, these recent pieces of literature have begun to

provide insights into how we, as researchers, will further help us improve our inhalable product.

EXTRACTION BY BLENDING

According to Qing, et al (2018), the first step in separating desired natural products from

basic materials is extraction. According to the extraction principle, extraction processes include

solvent extraction, distillation, pressing, and sublimation. The most common method is solvent

extraction. Natural product extraction proceeds as follows: (1) the solvent penetrates the solid

matrix; (2) the solute dissolves in the solvents; (3) the solute is diffused out of the solid matrix;

and (4) the extracted solutes are collected. Any factor that increases the diffusivity and solubility

in the preceding phases will make the extraction easier. The extraction efficiency is affected by
STI COLLEGES

extract as a Scented Candle for use as an Alternative Air Freshener

14
the extraction solvent's properties, the particle size of the raw materials, the solvent-to-solid ratio,

the extraction temperature, and the extraction period. In general, the finer the particle size, the

greater the extraction outcome. The tiny particle size will improve extraction efficiency due to

increased solvent penetration and solute diffusion. However, too tiny particle size will result in

increased solute absorption in solid and difficulty in subsequent filtering.

As stated by Leticia Peraza Echeverría (2019), aqueous extracts of plants are a simple,

economical, and eco-friendly alternative to use as a source of antifungal activity. In the article, the

protocol for extracting any type of plant leaves with water was stated. To start with the extraction,

collect fresh leaves, wash them with tap water, and remove excess water with a kitchen centrifuge.

Distribute the leaves in cardboard boxes, put them at 50°C in a stove for 2 -3 days, and store them

in plastic bags until use. Moving forward to blending, every 30 seconds stir the 10g dry leaves

with a spatula, add 100 ml distilled water then mix. After that, pour the mixture into 50 mL falcon

tubes and centrifuge, take the supernatant and pour it into a container, take 1800 μL in 2 mL

Eppendorf tubes, take the supernatant of all the tubes and pour it into a container, filter the aqueous

extract with the membrane of 0.65 μm contained in a swinnex, take the previous filtering and filter

it with the membrane of 0.45 μm contained in a swinnex, in a laminar flow hood, using a membrane

of 0.22 μm contained in a swinnex, sterilize the aqueous extract by filtration. Lastly, store the

aqueous extract in a sterile 50 mL falcon tube in the dark at 4°C until its use. According to

Echeverría, this aqueous extract can be stored at 4°C and depending on the plant, the activity can

be maintained for a fixed period. After the process, the aqueous extract is ready to be used in

bioassays of antifungal activity. Summing it up all, the article is related to our study since we need

to extract eucalyptus and mango leaves and will surely be a big help in the process of our study.

APPEARANCE

As reported by the National Candle Association (2020), the ancient Romans are generally

credited with developing the wicked candle before that time by dipping rolled papyrus repeatedly

in melted tallow or beeswax. Egyptians were using wicked candles in 3,000 B.C., but the ancient

Romans are generally credited with developing the wicked candle before that time by dipping

rolled papyrus repeatedly in melted tallow or beeswax. The candles that resulted were used to

illuminate their dwellings, to aid travelers at night, and in religious rituals. Many other early

societies constructed wicked candles utilizing waxes manufactured from accessible plants and

insects, according to historians. In the Middle Ages, beeswax candles were introduced to Europe,

which marked a significant advancement. Beeswax, unlike animal-based tallow, burnt cleanly and

without producing a smoky blaze. In addition, rather than the nasty, caustic odor of tallow, it had

a nice, sweet aroma. The popularity of candles remained steady until the mid-1980s, when interest

in candles as decorative items, mood-setters and gifts began to increase notably. Candles were

suddenly available in a broad array of sizes, shapes and colors, and consumer interest in scented

candles began to escalate.

According to a recent report published by Lee (2021), Vietnamese candle manufacturers

are constantly working to improve their goods in terms of design and innovation. Design

innovation is a crucial component driving candle demand in the home market, since these high-

quality candles are extensively utilized for religious, ornamental, and consumer uses in Vietnam.

Manufacturers are also introducing new high-quality items for both foreign and domestic markets.

For example, Peony Home, a home décor, and interior furniture selling company, introduced the

first Vietnamese-made home aroma candle.

SCENTED CANDLE

According to The Flowerpot (October 23, 2020), a candle is substantially more than a

fragrant piece of style. A candle is numerous things — an olfactory object of articulation, a time-

machine, a remedial device.

The psychological wellness advantages of consuming candles are genuine, as per analysts.

However, it could appear to be senseless, the study of candles for wellbeing is established in the

act of fragrant healing.

The warm sparkle of a candle has various advantages for somebody attempting to further

develop their rest cleanliness, as well. The fire of a flame is a vastly improved option in contrast

to the blue light of a cell phone.

However, it's presently not a social need, living by candlelight in the nights is useful for

calming the brain and giving the eyes a vital computerized relief.

As stated by Innerfyre (August 09, 2020), Candles are notable for their quieting and

mending properties, and they are habitually utilized by specialists, like back rub advisors, to make

a loosening up air in their treatment rooms. The straightforward demonstration of lighting a flame,

EUCALYPTUS

In accordance with Stuartxchange Ph (2019), Eucalyptus is an evergreen tree that can

grow to be 15 meters tall or higher. There are approximately 600 species in the genus, and globulus

is the most widely cultivated. Cordate, glaucous-blue leaves clasp the stem as they grow; mature

leaves are leathery, lanceolate, dark green, with a sickle shape. There are approximately 600

species in the genus Eucalyptus, and E. Its properties are oils, which can be classified as medicinal

(containing eucalyptol or cineol), industrial (containing terpenes and used in mining operations),

or aromatic (as in E. citriodora. Anesthetic, anti-bronchitis, antiseptic, antiparasitic, antirheumatic,

antispasmodic, antiviral, cooling, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, febrifuge, rubefacient, analgesic,

insect repellent, sedative, expectorant, stimulant other countries, such as India, Mexico, Tunisia,

On the authority of StuartxchangePh (2019), the manga tree is a large tree with a dense

and spreading crown. The leaves are oblong to oblong-lanceolate in shape and range in length from

10 to 30 centimeters. The flowers are yellow, small, and 3 to 4 millimeters long, and they are borne

on erect, hairy panicles that are often if the leaves. The fruit is a drupe, varying shades of yellow,

fleshy, oblong-ovoid, 10 to 15 centimeters long, and slightly compressed, with a large flattened,

fibrous seed in the center, surrounded by an edible yellow pulp when ripe. It has antiseptic,

antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, diaphoretic, stomachic, vermifuge, cardiotonic, and laxative

properties. It’s edible and high in iron (but low in calcium); it’s also high in vitamins A, B, and C.

It has citric, tartaric, and malic acids in it. Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic,

hypoglycemic, immunostimulatory, antioxidant, antidiarrheal, anti-asthmatic, antihyperlipidemic,

anti-gouty arthritis, antiulcerogenic, wound healing, anthelmintic, anxiolytic, Reno modulatory

properties have been suggested in studies. In the Philippines, root decoction is used as a diuretic.

In India and Cambodia, a solution of the bark’s gum is swallowed to treat dysentery.

Commensurate with Cabalza, D. (2021), extracts of local mango leaves have shown

extraordinary potential as a corrective fixing with high cancer prevention agent, antiaging and

brightening properties, as indicated by a review led by a group of specialists from the University

of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). It was expressed that the review investigated the presence

of polyphenolic compounds in the leaves of nearby mango cultivars (carabao, apple mango, pico,

sinaging and sipsipin), alongside the cancer prevention agent limit and inhibitory impact against

elastase and tyrosinase-catalysts which cause maturing and obscuring of skin; and dissected four

(4) out of 36 recognized polyphenolic intensifies found in mango leaves that incorporates

mangiferin, gallic corrosive, kaempferol and quercetin-3-β-D-glucopyranoside.

In line with Panlasangpinoy.com (2019), without a doubt, the best mangoes the world has

ever tasted originated in the Philippines. I’m sure people from other mango-producing countries

will disagree with me. However, I am confident that no other mango can compete with Philippine

mangoes in terms of sweetness, sourness, size, and weight. In the Philippines, there are numerous

mango varieties. Champagne mango, also known as Carabao mango, is probably the most well-

known in terms of flavor. This mango variety has the sweetest flavor I’ve ever tasted. It is also the

mango variety exported by the Philippines to other countries. I tried almost every imported mango

variety available in the United States, as well as local mangoes. They all have a distinct flavor that

differs from the original Philippine Mango. There are even varieties here that say “Manila

Mangoes” on the label but do not taste like it.

AIR FRESHENER

Just as PHILKOTSE (2021) stated, a car air freshener is a necessary addition because it

helps keep your car smelling fresh and eliminate unpleasant odors. It also comes at a very low

cost, so it should be the least of your concerns. A car air freshener may sanitize your interior as

well as provide a pleasant aroma. Your car’s interior will always be prone to germs as people come

and depart. Pollution from the outside air, as well as car emissions, can be a source of germs that

are harmful to humans. One of the most underappreciated advantages of a car air freshener is that

it improves your mood. It doesn't have to smell like Italian quality leather or like it just came out

of the dealership. It doesn't have to smell like Italian premium leather or like it just came out of

the showroom; a familiar scent or one you’ve enjoyed for a long time would suffice. These air

fresheners are available in a variety of sizes and forms, allowing you to select one that will not

only provide pleasant aromas but also enhance the aesthetics of your interior.

Conforming to Casingal, C. (2020), citrus fruits and Citronella Essential Oil as an organic

air spray and jelly air freshener, are possibly useful agents to minimize the foul stench within the

bathroom, according to this experimental investigation. Public urination sites emit a bad stench or

an annoying odor that makes people sick, particularly students. It will also make them feel uneasy,

and it may even make them sick if they have asthma, weak lungs, or sinusitis. Citrus fruits and

Citronella Essential oil, used as an organic air spray and jelly air freshener, were thought to help

reduce the unpleasant stench in school bathrooms, according to the study. Air fresheners are

designed to be used in a variety of locations and provide a pleasant scent. Since ancient times,

fragrances have been employed to disguise odors.

AIR FRESHENER

As reported by Alshaer, F. I., et. Al., (2019), Air Freshener contain different synthetic

compounds that could conceivably be unsafe to human well-being and the climate. These items

are generally utilized in various settings like homes, schools, workplaces, and emergency clinics

LOCAL STUDIES

EUCALYPTUS

Pursuant to Ourlad Alzeus G. Tantengco (2018), this study reported the types of

therapeutic plants involved by Ayta people group in Dinalupihan, Bataan. The main species in

view of purpose values and source agreement factors were additionally determined. Flora of the

Philippines contains more than 12,000 plant species. The Ayta people group in Bataan keep on

dwelling in their forested hereditary terrains and broadly rely upon woods assets for food and

medicines. Indigenous individuals living close to timberland and a long way from market town

have more significant levels of ethnobotanical information.

In consonance with Malab, S. C., Eucalyptus planting is done in the northeastern

Philippines after harvesting reduces natural forests to marginal stands and vast anthropogenic

grasslands have resulted from shifting cultivation. Government priority is to revert these to the

productive sustainable forest in community reforestation schemes; 3,500 families are involved in

the project area and as a result, cash incomes increased for some by 500%. Eucalyptus is a favored

tree because of its adaptability, seed availability, ease of establishment, survival, fire resistance,

ability to grow on relatively poor soil, growth rate, coppicing ability, and economic uses. E.

camaldulensis is prominent with 65% of the project area planted to it. Ectomycorrhizal inoculation

MANGO

On the authority of Arsenia B. Sapin (2021), extracts of indigenous mango leaves have

shown tremendous potential as a cosmetic ingredient with high antioxidant, anti-aging, and

whitening qualities. Most research focused on the industry profitability, mostly on breeding, fruit

production, and processing. Mango has been one of the top produced and exported crops in the

country. Previous research on foreign mango cultivars has found that mango leaves are high in

polyphenolic chemicals, which have antioxidant, antidiabetic, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory

qualities, among other things. Extracts from young leaves of pico and carabao types whiten the

skin.

Commensurate with Philippine Mango Industry Roadmap (2018), the Philippines is

blessed to have lands and climate that support the production of the “Philippine Carabao Mango,”

one of the best mango kinds in the world, as well as numerous indigenous and introduced varieties,

strains, and selections. However, over the previous few years, the volume of mango output and

yield has drastically decreased. Mango is now the Philippines’ third most important fruit crop,

after banana and pineapple. Its significance stems from more than just exports. Mango is the

national fruit of the Philippines, and it is widely consumed as a fresh fruit or as a flavour in ice

creams, pastries, and other delicacies. Carabao mango, Pico mango, and Katchamita mango are

three well-known mango varieties in the Philippines. Carabao, on the other hand, is the most

common and commonly grown type in the country, as well as the only variety exported.

AIR FRESHENER

Just as marketresearch.com (2022) stated, prior to the onset of the pandemic in the

Philippines, air care had been experiencing robust demand growth due to rising disposable incomes

and the reality that more nearby shoppers were focusing harder on the general climate of their

living climate, with gel deodorizers and shower/spray deodorizers representing the main part of

interest. Considering what is going on, the Euromonitor International’s Air Care in Philippines

market report chose to offer an exhaustive manual for the size and state of the market at a public

level which offers item advancements, bundling developments, monetary/way of life impacts,

appropriation or evaluating issues. It was stated that the coverage products are candle air

fresheners, car air fresheners, electric air fresheners, gel air fresheners, liquid air fresheners, other

air care and spray/aerosol air fresheners, which relates to our study since our study is about candle

air fresheners.

To the degree that the Gonzales, S. R., et. Al., (2016) explained, his study determined the

possibility of making Gel Air Freshener with Mosquito Repellent using spent ground coffee and

orange peel. This product was created to eradicate odor and function as a decorative piece, with

the goal of being profitable and distinct among the existing brands of air freshener and repellant

made by other producers. The technical report detailed the steps required in making a Gel Air

Freshener with Mosquito Repellent from spent ground coffee and orange peel, as well as the

product specifications, machinery, tools, equipment, direct and indirect components, and

packaging materials.

The articles we gathered contained information that helped us to properly conduct the

research we were doing. Eucalyptus and mango have many benefits. According to the article, we

found that mango leaf can also act as an effective and safe air freshener that can really help us to

soften our breaths, and to add to this that it also shows the potential to be a cosmetic ingredient

and it is anti-aging. Eucalyptus helps against respiratory illnesses by destroying viruses and germs

in the air, and a small amount goes a long way. The air freshener helps us to relax because of the

fragrant smell it has.

RECOMMENDATION

Based on the result of the study, the following are highly recommended by the researchers:

As stated by the respondents and other findings that the researchers found, the scent of the

air freshener needs to be improved by adding more mango leaves as eucalyptus overpowered the

scent of the mango. The appearance also needs to improve by adding a product label to make it

more presentable. Some of the respondent’s recommendation is to place the product in a room

temperature to prevent it from melting. The researchers found that the scented candle can only last

for a short period of time, the researchers decided to make a change to the product materials to

make it more long lasting. Overall, the respondents like the color of the candle and the calming

and soothing scent of the said product so that, the air freshener got a very much acceptable verbal

interpretation in appearance, scent, and usefulness.
